Keeping signature private on delivery confirmation?

This question is mostly just out of curiosity...  I sold something that I sent "signature required".  When I looked at the delivery confirmation, it said basically, "a name and signature have been captured" but "signatory has requested that they not be displayed on our website".  Now I'm wondering, as a buyer how you do that?  When I've had to sign for packages, I haven't seen or been told of any option for this.  In this age of identity theft etc., not having your signature available to a shipper you don't know seems like a good idea.

Anyone know how it works?

Most "signature confirmation" on the doorstep is "any adult in the house".

Only at the PO counter is more identification required.

Even there the pickup need not be done by the addressee, just an adult with more id and probably the same address.

I've never heard of that "not display" as an option either.

The important thing is that the shipper has confirmation that some one, probably an adult, possibly a paranoid one, has signed for the delivery which is now Confirmed.

@dinomitesales  Is that your training at the PO?
