Am I allowed to sell Linux Smartphones in Canada?

Hello,

I am a new eBay seller. I am a individual seller looking at selling some of my old used stuff that I struggle to sell locally (usually because there quite niche).  I also do not ship internationally since I don’t fell comfortable with that yet. I am trying to start selling an old android phone that has android replaced with the Ubuntu Touch mobile OS, but the automated systems keep flagging the device with this error (both during posting or shortly after):

We removed some of your listings: Electronic equipment policy
Most electronic equipment used to transmit or receive signals or for surveillance are not allowed.

This is confusing me. This is not a surveillance device. There is also many other Ubuntu Touch smartphones listed on eBay Canada that can be bought. Usually a Google Pixel 3a smartphone rather then a Sony Xperia X Performance phone, but same overall concept. The Sony Xperia X Performance did also release back in Canada in 2016 so this is before the time Sony pulled out of Canada for there mobile division (2018/2019). This is also just a android type phone, not special type of broadcasting equipment or spy device.

Thank You

New Sellers are a Target for scammers and especicially so for inexperienced sellers engaging in electonics, computers, and gaming devices and accessories,etc...stay away from those categories until you get some selling experience and establish yourself as a reliable, trustworthy seller. Start out slow and easy with low value items that won't cost you big dollars in fees,  and won't be a significant loss if something goes awry....READ all  eBay's rules and policies and read everything about HOW to sell. Also be aware of rules and policies that pertain to new sellers>selling limits, restrictions, payment holds and so forth...

Best wishes and good luck going forward!

Seeing other people running on red lights doesn't mean you can do the same. Unfortunately, eBay is known to flag some items and let others sell the same thing anyway. But the thing is once you've been warned, you should not try it again because you're on their naughty list. Whatever the reason, even if not guilty. That's not fun, but you need to know right away what you are getting into.

Plus selling cellphones right of the bat with a new account isn't the best way to build an account. Sell a couple of cheap things first to get the hand of the play, and see if it's worth it.
