How long do dsrs for late shipping effect you defect rate. Are they removed after a certain period of time or do they stay forever. I received a couple during the postal strike and it is going to lower me to above standard from top rated.

I think that you might have your terms mixed up. DSR’s are the star ratings that a buyer can give you when they leave feedback rating describing your communication, shipping time etc. They are shown on your feedback page and aren’t used by eBay to rate sellers.
if you are referring to getting a late shipment marked against you that’s different than a DSR and that can be seen on your seller dashboard. If you have had less than 400 transactions in the last 3 months the late shipments will stay on your record for a year.
Your late shipment rate won’t affect your global top rated status until you have more than 5 of them in the rating period and the total percentage is more than 5%. As Tyler mentioned you will find what is affecting your trs status on your seller dashboard
