Paying DHL customs fees online

Purchased an item from Germany that is being shipped DHL express.  Item value about $60 CAD.  Received an email from DHL requiring me to pay customs fees of $33 (13 duties, 20 fee).  Not thrilled about it but whatever.

All i ever hear is never click on links in emails and enter personal info, in this case my payment info, yet there doesn't seem to be any other way to pay the Customs fees i owe, i.e. on DHL's website.  Is there a way that i am missing or is the email the only option?   And is there any way to pay DHL with Paypal instead of directly with a card, that way i don't have to enter any card information online at all.

I'm pretty certain the email is ligit but i still don't like enttering payment info online if i can avoid it.

One would think the world's third largest shipping company should know that email links are potential scam targets and provide details on how to get to the payment page directly.

I got one a couple of days ago for eBay International Shipping (DHL being the final mile, and prepaid via eIS was not an option at checkout).  I clicked the email link. I don't remember if paypal was one of the DHL payment choices (but I didn't check).  DHL provides a payment receipt and other import documentation.

When on the site you may have to switch to EN if german is not your prefered language.  It will display the Waybill number (tracking number) and basic import details so you will have some assurance it is for the correct item.
