Ebay hides DHL from Canadian customers and now, We're screwed!!

I just had a request from DHL to pay Canadian tax on my Ebay purchase. I will NEVER pay any tax to anyone other than the Canada Border Services and will expect my receipt from CBSA as well. This way, I know where the money went. Further, I just made a purchase and did not send it to my US address. Big mistake. Now I find out that what the posting show as "USPS" as the shipper was actually Ebay's smoke and mirrors to further my item to DHL (worst and cheapest in the world)  DHL is no longer delivering in Canada due to a never ending strike. Ebay has made NO offers to me and is telling me  to wait until the item does not show up to ask for a refund. Just a WARNING to Canadians, when the posting shows USPS, make sure that is who is sending it to YOUR address. If the seller says it is going somewhere else first, cancell the purchase.  It will likely end up in the incapable hands of DHL.  Check the DHL reviews online and you will understand why I would never use them.  My advice for Canadian buyers is to use a USA address. This skips the terrible policy and shipping directions of Ebay for Canadian customers. As for me, I will NEVER get my purchase and will get a refund in a few weeks. The worst part of this all is that Ebay is not even confirming that they are sending Canadian customer's items to a courier company that has ceased operations in Canada. You can't make this stuff up!!!

Sadly, there are quite a few people in the world that think they possess the absolute truth, and they just can't be in the wrong, no matter what.

So I am constantly a victim of DHL.  They peeve me off to the max. I have noticed one thing and that is that eBay always use DHL when it comes to small parcels that weigh next to nothing, IE, hankies. It's obvious that DHL is the cheapest option for EBay's small packages and we are the ones who suffer. So not only are our delivery costs  insane we also have to deal with DHL's charges. And like others have said we end up waiting for a month for our purchases, and yes, Chinese goods, from China, get here much quicker. I have also noticed, as of late, that unless you are receiving a large package, you can be guaranteed to be charged by DHL.

My beef is this, why are we being charged for handling fees when, given the option, this would not be our choice of delivery companies. It should be the sellers responsibility since they are the ones who decided to use DHL in the first place. It's like a double whammy for us, not only do we pay crazy shipping prices, we also have to pay for the brokers fees. The broker's fees have nothing to do with import taxes or duties. And to top it all off we wait forever for our orders. And if anyone has noticed they have now included Britain in their global shipping program.

If things from the U.S. were sent directly to us it would cost half the amount and would take half the time. It's a crazy world when items from Bulgaria cost half the shipping price and get here faster than items from the U.S.

Yes, it's a brave new world, and buying items from abroad gets more and more complicated. Welcome to the XXI century.
