Soooo why doesn't canada and all other countries start rejecting packages coming from the united states if they aren't DDP.
Mainly because the legality (for want of a better word) of this action is questionable.
Also consider that Canada has extended an olive branch to the Americans by announcing the elimination of tariffs on CUSMA-compliant items manufactured in the US. At least our government realizes that tariffs potentially hurt the importing country more than the exporting one.

Well, I suppose you can increase your Handling Charge to cover the tariff.
At first it would have to be a Flat Rate and a hope that overcharges and undercharges even out.
Then a Calculated Rate programmed by eBay.
During his first term, he mused about dropping out of the Universal Postal Union, which was founded on the suggestion of the USA in 1894, because it has become a division of the United Nations (who laughed at him).

we wont' insist all packages coming from the US are sent DDP because we are a civilized nation full of rational people, not one run by a 10 year old who's been alive for 79 years.

Zonos has been working with the UPU (Universal Postal Union) since 2024 to help get postal operators set up with using DDP for parcels. However, the August 29 deadline is pushing things far too quickly for postal operators to be properly ready.

What will be done to allow eBay buyers to pay these duties before we ship?
Hi @femmefan1946! Let me reach out and see if there are any details that can get and share.

I would actually like to see that come to pass. US businesses would not be happy and there would be a lot of noise. That would make a more level playing field. Right now they just ship out, not even thinking about tariffs.
As much as non-chinese companies ship to the US, they ship a ton of merchandise out.

At the beginning of the fentanyl crisis, which coincided with the UPU work to rule on underpriced Chinese shipping, Canada Post did just that.
Ignoring low cost Chinese shipments until all other shipments had been processed, sometimes for weeks.
