I made a mistake when I revised my listings and where I should have had it as $12.00US shipping I had $4.00US to Canada. It was a fat box so goes as a parcel. Well when I went through ebay, the cost was $17.89 CDn and through snap ship it was close to $20. I was flipping out as it was costing me to ship out this item. I went to Chit chats and through their Chit Chat Select I was able to get it for $9.54, which make me feel way better. I screwed up and was loosing money on the transaction, but now it is OK, not great but OK. So don't forget about Chit Chats for Canada shipping too.

"So don't forget about Chit Chats for Canada shipping too. "
So don't forget ChitChats is NOT available everywhere like Canda Post and ChitChats is not as convenient as Canada Post and don't forget ChitChats has had major problems at the border with non-compliant parcels...
ChitChats may be cheaper but you get what you pay for...

The OP topic is for shipping inside Canada, not the US.
The drop off is the main issue with Chitchats but the service is just fine inside Canada - you stuff gets there in good time and order just like CP.
Anyone shipping inside Canada from Canada should be looking at alternatives. For parcels services like Sendle that use a courier the coverage is very good - there are certain situations where it makes sense - mainly larger parcels.

Click Ship has good domestic UPS prices with free pickup (usually cheaper than through eBay labels, but not always). I've been avoiding Canada Post whenever possible until the current labour situation is resolved, and I've surprisingly found that UPS has been the best choice for most of my domestic shipments. I don't have Chitchats or Stallion here.
I usually add 1-2 cm to all dimensions and about 10g to the weight just to make sure I'm not upcharged. So far I've had no issues.
If you have to send something that takes multiple boxes, Click Ship also has good Purolator rates. Purolator only charges the additional weight / size for each box to the same destination, so sending two 6x6x6 boxes should cost the same as one 12x6x6 box. This could be very helpful when eIS Canada starts.

and again same> Canada Post is widely available for shipping within Canada whereas the likes of ChitChats,Stallion,Sendle are either not available, not conveniently accessible so has limitations...
Agree it is great for those who can use but not so great when ever so many sellers do not have that opportunity...for many it is very limited for economical alternatives...
Most of my items are shipped lettermail or CP flat rate boxes for within Canada.
It is what it is...
For myself my casual/infrequent selling here on eBay just became even less, but I am listing more and more on my other selling site where I see more advantages and get more visibility for my items...
As I now ship only within Canada, there is little point to listing much on eBay anymore with basically 0 visibility here...

Sure, like I said for Chitchats drop off is the main issue. But not all alternative should be put in the same bucket as Chitchats/Stallion as they are different and there are accessible alternatives to most of Canada. Whether they save money vs. Canada Post will depend. In the event of CP strikes these are good arrows in the quiver.
I used Sendle as an example as they are basically a courier broker that provides small shippers access to high volume rates. With that, they have at door pickup to most of Canada and have 550 drop of locations. The coverage is actually very good.
I mainly use Canada Post but have had heavy/larger shipments inside Canada where Sendle picked up at the door and the cost was much cheaper than CP. Smaller items it has not been worth it. @flipistics mentioned Click Ship that looks like it is brokering high volume rates from UPS, who provided good national coverage.

There is very little option for the infrequent/casual/low volume seller, that will apease the current situation so many of us will continue to use Canada Post as is, what is,where is, when is,how is...
