Try Vinyl phonograph record. The HS codes are not the same.

I'm uploading a photo as the app asks. It identifies it correctlyl.

The HS codes for CDs and vinyl records are different. CDs are 8523.49 and records are 8523.80. Try manually entering in the items on the app.

if the same app gives me a differ code by typing text from the one by entering a photo (which it correctly identifies) why would I believe the second was correct and not the first?

Some people commenting here aren't familiar with the Zonos app. It won't let you edit the HTS code when using their AI software to determine the item.
However if I choose to add an item to the shipment manually and just type "vinyl record" it does give the correct HTS code of 8523.80.1000. That's a workaround.
I would imagine the AI response is just a glitch of some sort. Hopefully it's fixed soon, but it isn't too detrimental to the transaction as a whole as there are workarounds and there is no duty owing anyway. If you can find a way to reach out to Zonos support I might ask them the question you posed here.

I'm rather shocked that LP's and CD's actually sell on eBay. I tried them at one time and had very little success with them. I have over 3000 CD's and almost as many records but the amount of labor in listing artist genre grading inlay cases etc was ridiculous. I would rather sell these locally ( shows, marketplace etc). I also hate mailing records just a pain. But hey if it works for you great, go for it.

When you upload a photo of an LP, is it in the sleeve or out of it?
For vinyl records, do not describe the item as 'phonograph record', bacause that gives the wrong code (8519.81.30.10), which appears to be the code for a CD or DVD player. ' Vinyl record' gives the correct code of 8523.80.10.00).
Another glitch that will hopefully be corrected soon is that whether Zonos is calculating a tariff on vinyl records depends on the 'country of origin'. For Canada and the UK it is calculating no tariff, but for Germany it is, which makes no sense. Zonos appears to not be calculating a tariff on CDs from any country.

The pic of the LP I uploaded is in the .ibb. link in the post.
I just redid it in the online zonos app and got the same result.
Here is a screenshot.

I appreciate all who told me there are bugs in the app.
I think it is a lot easier to upload a photo than type text though.
It decides the correct text then goes to the HS code which in this case
is apparently wrong.
Zero tariff for both apparently, but I don't want
an LP returned by US border zealots for an incorrect code.
