Everyone knows Canada Post has the harmonized code calculator:
https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/information/app/wtz/entreprise/trouvercodesh?execution=e1s1
And the US gov has a list of Harmonized code lookups for current duties:
https://hts.usitc.gov/
But how are those applied? What changes are currently in effect with ad valorem etc?
And has anyone found a place that has a calulator that sorts this out for we know what to charge our american customers when labels come back online?

We are still waiting for any tools.
I tested ChitChat shipping calculator yesterday, no DDP calculation was working.
I guess, developpers of Canada Post, Chit Chat, etc, had a big weekend or will start working intensively the next couple of days.
I'm sure something will come up somewhere soon.

Excellent time to take a bit of a holiday through labour day!

The Harmonized Code is an internationally agreed identifier for goods.
It does not directly deal with what any particular country's duty or tariff rates might be.
It might help an exporter/seller if the country published the rates for a particular product, but since the US tariffs are based as much on Country of Origin as what the product is, it would take more than the HS code to confirm the rate.

Oh, because I always thought the harmonized code identifies the item and duty because in the guide the far right columns are called Rates of Duty just most items are covered under a variety of agreements with a few limited exceptions. The duty there applying to Country of Origin as the rate given under the applicable HS Code subheading. So with the de minimis gone some items could qualify for duty if they aren't currently covered under agreements which most countries have so very useful but only part of a much larger issue.
But yes, it's all this DDU tariff and ad valorem nonsense that is compounding things.

HS is an international code, the tariff amounts will differ by country. So 8509.40 may have a 4% rate in one country and 12% in another.

HS codes can also vary depending on the country item is going to. Now always but in certain cases because of internal government rules. Why, if you use something like a google search for checking you include where it was made along with where it is going.

This link has a disclaimer that it is "not exhaustive" but it appears that it is being updated from time to time, so hopefully should keep up to date.
This shows current tariff rates by country of origin, and type of goods.

You can get the tariff amount from entering the product info, COO and HS Code in Zonos prepay - either the phone app or we. Just close it before finalizing. It will also show on the last page the Zonos fee which will apply if you ship by Canada Post since Zonos is a requirement for Canada Post shipments to the US.
Extra import and admin fees from couriers etc. is not in there but it gives you the tariff amount. Note that if you have $0 tariff items there is no Zonos fee.
Webpage - you will need to set up an account.
