I am thinking of trying out Chit Chats as an alternative shipping solution. It says on their site that you can integrate your eBay store with Chit Chats. Has anyone done that successfully?

Sure have. Easy Peasy. Open up a Chit Chats account (free) and once you have linked your eBay store with CC (easy to follow instructions on how to do that) you click on "import shipments" and all you do is fill in the details (weight, box size, HTS code, etc. Your buyers name and adress will already be pre-filled.

Yes, it is very standard. What it basically does is let chitchats pull in your sales information and populate your shipping information - name, address, description.
When it is done you can choose to import shipment information from here:

Thank you. Just integrated my eBay store with Chit Chats & made up my first label. UPS would have cost me $35.00 to ship my item to Quebec with insurance. Chit Chats charged just over $13.00 with insurance. Big difference in price. There is a Chit Chats about 5 km from my home in Vancouver B.C. Nice to have another option for shipping.

Once implemented does it give you and your customers access to discounted rates or do you have to use flat rate?

Also suggest exploring Sendle, as they have a number of drop of locations in Van.

There is no way to integrate Chit Chat prices on eBay at the moment. I would fully use Chit Chat if it was the case. But at the moment, flat rate must be used and it's not very user friendly.
In some cases, it's impossible because Chit Chat would not ship everywhere or charge very high compared to other places.
It's good for standard urban areas, but rural... not that simple without Calculated Shipping.
Chit Chat has their own price structure and is not providing other carriers. They have deals and built their own network to ship items. Last mile is provided by Canada Post (when available) with some of their offerings, but not all.

I hope if enough of us are loud enough chitchats can get integrated with ebay Canada so we can have access to calculated shipping rates and remove the annoying blue banner on our listings, particularly CUSMA listings

You can choose between 3 options (the rate depends on the destination / US state):
