Shipping Questions re: eBay, CP, Zonos - oh my!

It has been some time since I have sold items to the US, but I need to part with a lot of vintage CDs (all made in USA) that will be of interest to American collectors.  I tested a CD through Zonos and there was no duty applicable, so that's one good thing.

I am shipping by CP.

I have just used the online eBay shipping calculator and the tracked packet rate to USA is $7.19. Can I use these eBay labels combined with the Zonos QR code at the post office or am I limited to using CP Snap Ship through my acct and paying $10.19?

You’re not going to be able to print a Canada Post shipping label for a US-bound item through eBay, unfortunately. eBay in its wisdom has disabled that capability.

So, yeah, you’re limited to Snap Ship or whatever other Zonos-supporting services are out there for you.

eBay discounted Canada Post labels to the USA are not available. 

You have to buy directly from Canada Post (online or at the counter).

If you use SnapShip, make sure you have SfSB account setup so you get at least the Level 1 discount on labels.

You will want to figure out label costs, and change to flat rate shipping for Tracked Packet USA.  ebay's calculations will be far from what you have to pay now for labels elsewhere.  You can list Tracked Packet USA as a service on your listings, buyers can select it and pay the incorrect calculated rate, but you can't purchase CP labels to US on ebay directly.

An alternative to SnapShip for Tracked Packet USA is NetParcel.  They have a better discount than level 1 SfSB has, but not too much savings on lighter items.  Another benefit is you can import addresses from an ebay order and it (usually) updates tracking on ebay automatically when you buy the label.  You can also choose to use NetParcel's own Zonos account integration instead of setting up your own Zonos account for CP automatic billing or getting an ID from the prepay app.

Just to note that all CDs are exempt under 50 USC 1702(b)  which exempts the following:

information or informational materials, including but not limited to, publications, films, posters, phonograph records, photographs, microfilms, microfiche, tapes, compact disks, CD ROMs, artworks, and news wire feeds.

So the country of origin does not matter for these items.

NetParcel's rate to use it's own Zonos account is increasing Jan 14th however, so setting up a verified Zonos account through Canada Post for automatic billing and NetParcel will be cheaper.
