Hi, what the hell, I'm selling custom jewelry on Ebay Canada and I've done a sale in the US. Everything go's well except when it's time to pay the UPS... look at the detail for a transaction that cost approx. 90$ CAD. Who is charging the most UPS? If it wasn't for the UPS fees, I would say ok. I inform the buyer and respond just cancel it (it's on it's way too late). What?? I've written a message before accepting here offer saying that there would be other cost COD. Why did she bought it in the first place knowing that? Anyway, I still have two packages that are still hostage at UPS facility and if you want news for those package the sent you an email of excel sheet to fill for claims (that is so slow I stop and I'm waiting to be in a better mood. I will hold my selling in the US it's too much of a pain for now. Maybe and I pray for Canada Post to be revived one day. Do you think Canada post will charge those also ? Thanks, i'm just a bit cranky don't be hard on me.
Total Paid (USD): $36.59 (52$ CAD)
Import Charges
Government Charges: $12.59
Duty: $9.90
Merchandise Processing Fee: $2.69
UPS Brokerage and Partner Government Agency Fees: $24.00
Entry Preparation Charges: $10.00
Disbursement Fee: $14.00

UPS (or FedEx) are possibly the absolute worst shipping options to the US, it's worse now with the tariff situation.
Not sure what you mean by "Canada Post revived", Canada Post service to the US is operational, the tariffs would be the same* but all those UPS service charges (about $50) would be more like $2.
* If you were able to make the jewelry elegible for CUSMA there would be no tariffs at all.

Unfortunately, many Canadian sellers would rather grab that USA sale and continue shipping to the USA, than spare themselves the fruatrations, the unwelcomed surprises & the angst over extra costs, extra fees, etc...

Not sure why you don't use CP/Zonos. Everything is up front, you know exactly what is involved and the buyer gets not suprises.

Canada Post (clearance using Zonos) would be approx $3 fee plus 10% of tariff amount. Last time I checked the Canadian tariff was 35% (paid upfront). CUSMA exemption not allowed (under current rules) for postal shipments.
ebay's new eIS program may be a better fit for you once they get it rolled out.

i agree with you ---its time for those people that have sold to the usa all these years and made and said they made great profits!!!!!! to reap what they have sown, if you relied on those sales as part of your business plan, then now suck it up and bite the bullet. i for one after getting burnt a couple times from us sales 5 years ago stopped selling to the usa and yes i have minual sales right now . and maybe the odd scam refund two over 6 months, but at least the headaches i have are usally by my own making but very much so less than those that now are in cwagmaer of mud dealing with those sales to the usa.

That's right. Even if the items are duty-free, if CUSMA compliant, they charge the IEEPA tariffs.
That's Orange D-ump for you.

You can get the CUSMA exemption with Chit Chats and Stallion Express. Chit Chats allows boxes of packages to be mailed in, if you have volume it might be worth it. Before Chit Chats came to my city (and has since closed down), I used to make a big box of packages to Burlington once a week. It's hardly worth it for me to do that anymore though with such a lack of sales... I had four packages go out today, only one went out with Stallion (the other three were Canada Post), and today ONE sale going to the UK.
I have issues, among the most important is not enough time to do things on eBay to improve sales while trying to juggle a full time job. But the weekend will be here soon and I can work on my listings some more.

Sorry ...Truths hurt..To be a successful online seller requires a VERY thick skin for survival...
and NO ONE forces anyone to use UPS...but if one only sees dollar signs and is that desperate for those USA $$ guess you just suck it up buttercup and carry on! Hope things carry on better going forward & Good luck with Zonos-Canada Post for future shipments!

I,am now using zonos and it goes very very well. If we cannot give update or experience, then what is the point of this forum anyway. This happens to me just between the period Post Canada was not giving service in the US and UPS did (2-3 days before tariffs took place). That's ok. I don't make any difference between US or CAD or elsewhere customer buy from, but there is one thing why then the US buyer are still bying? Because the CAD dollar worth less so it's a good deal for them. Don't try to searchfor more bedbugs. There is tariffs now then there is tariffs but It won't take away my deception towards UPS doing. And to close this issue, I refund the US buyer totally as soon as I got my package. Maybe I should have keep the refund. But the worst, I received a bill from UPS they charge me 75$ now for returning the package back to me. So maybe if you don't have any interest for my post maybe somebody else will.

The alternative should have been CP hands off to USPS. USPS would have been done the customs clearance. Price was 6.95 per line item. Been in affect for years. Only when applicable. Still shows on their website. What happened when "the Orange Haired Menace" it poofed it and got rid of the de minimus. Most likely because USPS couldn't handle the volume. Instead we get this whackadoodle zonos experiment where we get to pay the customs/customers fees. Remember the days of low value orders coming to Canada via USPS to CP. Sometimes ya got the 9.95 ding and tax and other times ya didn't. Luck of the draw or an agent who couldn't be bothered with the hassle.
