Hi there, I'm kind of freaking out here, what happened with the seller discount rates for Canada Post?? It was bad enough we were not able to access the shipping labels since Monday, and it's back now but the rates are set to the regular Canada Post rates and NOT the seller discounted ones we're supposed to have, and I've got over 10 items I've been waiting to make labels for but now if I go through with that as is, I'm going to lose all the profits I made on the items and THEN some! That is extremely unfair, and eBay needs to fix this ASAP!

I have been on virtual hold with eBay Facebook for almost 45 mins. Last auto message was will be right with you. Time to get another coffee.

Just looked at the cost of shipping an $12 sale to Australia with the only label available through eBay.
FedExExpress at $112.00.
Not a typo.
On the other hand, I could buy the label through Shippo or through Snap Ship (Canada Post's Solutions for Small Business) for about $10.
What I WILL do is stick $3.61 cents in postage stamps on the envelope and send it untracked by mail.
Lettermail won't work for parcels, but discounted parcel rates have been available all through the life of this thread.
Think.

I have a potential order to a US customer. He is willing to pay the discounted tracked rate. No interest in paying the CP rate. The big problem is buyers once they commit to purchase are seeing the discounted rates and that is what they pay. Because there is no real time line it would be next to impossible to update and update back listings when it eventually is resolved.
Below is a partial transcript with eBay help via Facebook. Opened chat at just before 8 am. Received last response a short time ago. Important to consider eBay was advised originally of this issue the first time it cropped up prior to the July 4th holiday and has been advised multiple times since. There has been zero from ebay directly other than the recent update at labels to try again later.
I had the chance to look into this further, and see exactly what you are concerned about. This is a known issue that our developers are aware of. To resolve this on your account, I have gone ahead and sent a report to these experts on your behalf. Because this is in the initial stages of a technical report, we do not have an ETA on the fix just yet. Keep an eye on your account for any changes! It was a pleasure assisting you with this issue, and I am confident that our IT team will help resolve it!
Note: Initial stages. Also the fact that eBay announced a special discount for the month of July that sellers are currently unable to access.

Why?
Did you set it up that way?
My buyers see the counter rates -- if I am using Calculated Shipping. Mostly I use Free Shipping/Flat Rate.
The difference goes to packaging and insurance and my pocket.

Yes. Specifically that way. Only use flat rate the few items now we can get away with sending letter in Canada. I have discounted shipping turned on and might add a small handling charge. From my experience if buyers see counter rates the run for the hills. Especially if something is heavy or bulky. Majority of packages are covered by insurance for loss. Damage claims have become a tricky lost cause for multiple reasons. As for free shipping there are too many variables involved. to make it worth my time.

Most of my items are under 100-200 gr and Flat Rate/Free Shipping works for me.
My shipping cost is part of the asking price of course.
It depends, as always,on the category and the bulk of the item.
We all do what works best.

The phone reps have a terrible reputation for getting you off the phone as soon as possible even if that means giving you the advice you want to hear instead of the advice you need to have.

I went to check and see if Ebay has fixed the issue. It appears so. I went to "print another label" for the items that I already shipped and the shipping discounts are now available for me to print. I guess my ebay vacation is now over.

The heavily discounted rates for Expedited Lite and Tracked Packet were supposed to be permanent (they have their own dedicated pages on eBay) so there's no reason those would be removed, at least not with proper forewarning from eBay.
There was an additional discount that added a few more percentage points to the Tracked Packet discount (in addition to larger domestic Expedited Parcel discounts being offered directly through Canada Post) that was supposed to end on June 25, but I was still getting the sub-$5 local Expedited Parcel rates today so I have no idea what the status of that is.
So, we should still be seeing the standard eBay negotiated rates for Tracked Packet and Expedited Lite, plus a new discount of "an additional 8% on select Canada Post services" (announced in the most recent July 2025 Seller Update) for all services except for Tracked Packet and Expedited Lite.
It's all very confusing and convoluted, but no one should be seeing drastically different prices than they did before the service outage (unless you were regularly using the $3.50 local Expedited promotional rate for anything under 500g). Any current pricing issues can most likely be attributed to some sort of glitch either on eBay or Canada Post's end.
Re: The save another 8% promo.
Sent one this morning Calgary to Toronto. Very small 280 grams that did not cube. As per announcement Toronto to Vancouver for 1 kg should be 13.82. Final charge for Calgary to Toronto was 13.91. (Shorter distance.) The announcement does not seem to include the disclaimer about tax or fuel so not sure if the rate I got includes or not. Why having some kind of breakdown for the final charge would be extremely helpful. Or was it ever properly programmed in to reflect that discount?? We have questions. We just can't seem to get answers.
