taxes on silver

I'm having the same problem on taxes for silver. I sold a item buyer does not want to pay because of the taxes.plus he does not want to deal with trying to get a refund

Someone please correct me if I am in error on this, but If the silver is not certified 99.9% purity, I believe there are applicable taxes...

I think it depends on the buyer’s state (or even province) but I think you’re generally correct, @mrdutch1001.

And "sterling" silver does not meet that criterion.
