I just received an unpaid item strike.
I won the item and emailed the seller numerous times to plug in shipping costs but he wouldn't do so.
We'd communicated prior to the sale and all seemed well.
Even though I couldn't pay I got a strike..............
I know ebay will remove it if I call................ and I'll do that if and when I have time................ but just another hole in the system that's been over-fixed one too many times.
They fix one problem and a few more come to the surface.
That's no way to treat paying customers!

You couldn't have received a strike unless you received the notice to pay from ebay and they wouldn't have sent it unless the seller filled in the shipping.

No, surplusdude.............. You Have No Idea What You're Talking About!!!!
I did receive notice from eBay.
When I called I was told that the seller has his preferences set to automatic.
In these cases they are unable to do anything until the strike is issued ............ this ain't my first rodeo.........(another flaw in the system).
The buyer receives the strike and then the buyer has to call (a second time) to have it removed.
They remove it readily but it takes a phone call.
The seller did not fill in the shipping.
The reason I bothered to post here is because I get how wonky it is.......... but that's the way the system is set up.
Trust Me: I REALLY wanted the item and if there was any way to pay I would have done so.

I think you'll find that ebay isn't removing those strikes anymore, either.
For instance, sellers cannot call ebay to get a strike removed anymore (unless they have personal managers) and ebay is not routinely removing strikes on request since they started tightening things down on buyers 6 months ago.
But good luck with it.

surplusdude........... Where do you get these ideas/misinformation??
The strike is already gone.
It doesn't take luck
It takes a phone call.
First you say it's impossible that I got a strike, and then you say it's not possible to get it removed.
Both took place.
Yikes.

And how would you know if it's gone?
Buying strikes aren't visible to anyone.

surplusdude............
When a seller wants to give a buyer strike a case is opened in the resolution center.
If a buyer wants to see how the issue was resolved then he/she jut has to look at the case details.
The strike was removed................
So I guess now I should probably report the seller who behaved very badly indeed!

Fine, have it your way.

surplusdude: I don't know if that's supposed to be funny or snotty, but I suspect it's the latter.
Seriously????
It's not my way. It's eBay's way.
The way the resolution center works and cases are resolved is very basic eBay for beginners material.

I can vouch that this issue exists, I have seen it as well. It is definitely possible to open an unpaid item case when the shipping charges (Invoice) have not been sent to the buyer.
The buyer does indeed get a strike in this case.
