Can we get Canada Post Labels back up in Canada?

Strike rotation Saturday, so they begin accepting and moving packages agin.  I have some rural buyers that have no option but Canada Post. The highly discounted labels through eBay help make purchases affordable for them.

Can we get eBay To reactivate the labels for in Canada Shipments?

From what I understand at this time this is a union announcement.   We will need to have confirmation that CP is in agreement, and does not do something like lock them out.   With the CP brain trust you never know!

devon@ebay  Is eBay in the loop on this? Can we expect the CP option turned back on ASAP? Sellers have orders they need to process right now. I currently have 1 from 10 days ago to Spain with no additional options available via eBay Labels. Going outside of eBay is NOT an viable option. Especially when eBay is letting buyers pay for CP when they are willing to complete an order.

Even if we have access again to Canada Post labels, eBay still hasn't solved the problem of charging double amounts for Expedited Lite parcels. eBay has not addressed this ongoing problem at all & has not credited us sellers for the overcharge. Unless they fix this problem, we are not getting a great deal anymore.

As suggested by a post made by @dinomitesales elsewhere, I think the earliest we can expect Canada Post labels to be back up would be Tuesday, given that we have a long weekend ahead of us.

Re: Can we get Canada Post Labels back up in Canada?

Canada Post says they will not be accepting new commercial volumes until October 15th to allow time to clear out the backed up mail and packages already in the system.

I would not be surprised if eBay waits until then to re-enable label purchases through the platform.

https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/en/our-company/news-and-media/corporate-news/negotiations...

As we continue to operate with an unstable network, it will take time to clear the trapped volume and manage operational resources, so customers should expect delays in processing and delivery.

Some limitations will apply after our operations resume – including for pickups and drop-offs. Because of this, new commercial volumes will not be accepted into the network until Wednesday, October 15. This means we will not pick up or accept mail or parcels at our plants or depots until this date.

In addition, on-time delivery guarantees for parcel services remain suspended and date-specific Neighbourhood Mail will not be available. We will notify you as soon as we are able to resume these services.

At work I have 1000 letters for them to pick up next time they come by... all the unimportant stuff is sent by Canada Post.

Re: Can we get Canada Post Labels back up in Canada?

FWIW - Canada Post /SnapShip has had labels available throughout the current disruption.

But they are more expensive than the eBay negotiated prices.

In any case, no new mail would be picked up until Tuesday, even lettermail which does not appear to be "packages" or "commercial".

I hope the plant workers are back on Saturday and Sunday to shift the backlog. Fingers and toes crossed.

This is just for people getting on-demand commercial pick-ups from their residence or business; or those that have agreements to drop large orders directly at plants or depots.

Anyone can bring their letters/parcels to the post office starting today (Oct 11) - instructions from Canada Post to post offices are to start accepting all mail items ASAP.

Most post offices would have had their back rooms cleared today - the rest will have it done tomorrow.

@dinomitesales  I understand.

I was just passing the information along and saying that since Canada Post has indicated it will take a few days to clear out the backlog and is putting off accepting at least some new commercial volume until October 15, eBay may leave labels disabled until then as well just to err on the side of caution even if that doesn't apply to all shipments.

But of course it's also possible they may re-enable labels before then.

I sold some items today - it's what Ebay displays. Looks like a double trouble ....

Fortunately, I have access to ChitChats...

@38e_avenue

For your recent sales were buyers able to pay for/choose CP as their shipping method? Haven't had a sale in over a week so unsure if that was still happening. When sellers are in this shipping limbo it might be more optimal to receive a message from buyer advising either an alternate method or willing to wait.

Recently, on occasion I have had situations where it has defaulted to UPS which is a service I have never offered even when CP was active and customer paid for a CP option.

Re: Can we get Canada Post Labels back up in Canada?

Today being Sunday, you were not in Post Office but in a postal outlet.

There may be some differences between these and actual Canada Post  offices -- for example being open on weekends.

The staff at outlets don't work for Canada Post but for the shop the popup is located in.

@dinomitesales did say that Canada Post was instructing postal outlets to accept mail ASAP, not immediately.  It's likely that the postal outlet franchise operator has to make a call based on the pickup schedule for the outlet and other factors.

Re: Can we get Canada Post Labels back up in Canada?

I for one, have no intention of CP at the moment..(for that matter, I won't use CP until there is a CP in place that can be more consistently relied upon>such as prior to this strike nonsense)...

I have a within Canada shipment going out on Tuesday from my other selling site and that will be shipped via Purolator(netParcel viaPayPal)...

No CP as of today - only UPS and Fedex did show up.

Re: Can we get Canada Post Labels back up in Canada?

All post offices were told to start accepting any and all parcels as of Oct 11. It's back to business as usual.

If your local post office isn't accepting them for some reason then they're going against what corporate has told them; or, they're not checking their communication channels from Canada Post. Authorized Dealer post offices are notorious for being misinformed or making up their own rules. It's entirely possible that the only one checking Canada Post communication messages is the manager, who probably works M-F 9-5, and either didn't notice the message on Friday or didn't check the messages before leaving for the day and was therefore unable to pass along the information to the part-time staff working over the weekend who may not have access to the email account where official Canada Post communciations are sent.

There really isn't any point in dwelling on this anyway; even if your post office isn't accepting parcels until Tuesday there's functionally no difference between dropping the parcel off on Saturday vs Tuesday because of the long weekend.

I have a big box to go out and CP is not available on Stallion's website yet either (and Stallion is showing the old tariff rate for China, that's going to be fun for people in the next few days).

Kind of glad I have a separate policy for China, since the rules keep changing.
