Canadian sellers getting US buyers that state being blocked during eIS purchasing/paying process

One more can of worms to add to the collection. Just throwing it out there for something to ponder.

As an alternate possibility in these situations is it possible the buyers mailing address is a po box? According to eIS dot com page exceptions list PO boxes are not acceptable.

Noted search results posted below are USA to Canada but should work(not work) the same way in reverse. Canada to USA appears to be using DHL with eIS so courier would be in play.  It does not mention as far as can find as an exclusion (PO Boxes) on the Canadian eIS help page.

No, items shipped via eBay's eIS (eBay International Shipping) to Canada generally cannot be delivered to a P.O. Box because eIS uses private carriers (like UPS/FedEx) in the destination country, and they don't deliver to PO Boxes. However, if the seller ships directly to you via USPS (which becomes Canada Post in Canada), then a Canadian PO Box might work. For eIS, you need a physical street address for delivery to the eIS hub.

Personally I have never had an  issue sending to a po box so in my  current settings they are not included as an exception. But it is possible eBay views this as an issue so is blocking sellers/buyers during the paying process. Anyone who uses couriers...UPS etc would have a similar problem shipping to a US buyer. (PO boxes are in also in play in the EU and other countries.) It's been reported as a problem on the dot com forum doing a quick search. Their work around is to make sure to use USPS when shipping to Canada. (Not like Canadian sellers can use eBay labels/CP to the USA currently.)

I'm not following you here, @lotzofuniquegoodies.  What are "these types of situations" in the context of this thread?

Are you referring to the posts we've been seeing from sellers who aren't able to use eIS to ship some (or even all) their merchandise to the US via eIS?  That's a different animal.  These sellers are finding that the United States isn't showing up as a "ships to" location on their listings, so buyers with any US address won't be able to find these listings with a keyword or category search.  They won't be stopped from purchasing the item at Checkout because they won't get that far.

The exclusion on shipping to PO boxes is listed in the eIS Canada terms and conditions for buyers.  However, this doesn't show up as an exclusion in the listing's Shipping section and I don't believe it has since eIS was rolled out in the United States.

We exclusively use a canada post flex delivery address for all our deliveries from eis from usa (and all other deliveries) where the seller has not checked the box of no po boxes in the exclusions list. Not an issue yet.

The times where ebay will not allow po box is when the seller checked the box of no po boxes in the exclusions list. This is not ebay making a descision. These few items go instead to an quite inconvenient local safe address (7km drive) instead of our flex delivery address (post office directly across the street).

We cannot have carriers leaving our items on the sidewalk and taking a picture of it to "prove delivery" seconds before a meth head grabs it. This is what will happen 99.99% of the time at our main address.

During the mail strikes while using only alternate carriers we needed to exclude po boxes in every listing for the duration of each strike. (lots of work to do then undo this each time)

We also have a real usa ebay account with a usa address that we buy and occasionially sell with. We can use this account to see our Canadian listings by item number the way anyone from usa will see it.

Example from today:

We found out this way that diabetes test items are completely excluded from the .ca eis program. As a side note it also showed us that ND state tax is $0 on diabetes test items.
