De Minimis Exemption Ends Soon - Restricting US Buyers For Now

Hi all,

I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to restrict my products from being visible to buyers in the U.S.  My listings are currently on eBay.com.  It appears that I may need to put my store on "Time Away" until eBay International Shipping becomes available for Canadian sellers on eBay.com as I'm unable to figure out how to restrict US buyers.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If selling on .com you must have shipping for the USA.  You can set the domestic US shipping rate really high to discourage any USA sales (and if you get one, have enough extra from inflated shipping to cover tarrif charges).

I'm in the same boat. I was registered on ebay.com over 23 years ago and now it won't let me take out the US shipping to only have Canadian shipping.  If someone knows a way or heard anything coming from ebay, I would love to know.

Hi, there is a way for you to block buyers in the USA. The method is explained in another thread. I did it, and mine did show up when I searched after blocking. Maybe I searched too soon after blocking. Plus, I'm not sure what would show up in searches from other people in countries around the world because it was me searching for my own stuff, who knows anymore, eh? Some fellow Canadians have said in other threads things like 'all their listings disappeared', others claimed the listings were buried at the bottom of search results. For now I have delisted all my .com listings, ( which bothers me very much because of the tremendous amount of work involved in doing stuff like relisting on .ca). Plus most sales are from our neighbours to the South and many from around the world search there.

One of the requirements for listing on .COM, is that shipping must be provided for the USA, same as when listing on.CA shipping must be provided for Canada

I checked your listing availability on eBay.com ... you have over 300 listings that are posted on eBay.com, and being sold in US$. On eBay Canada, you have over 3,000 listings, so most of your listings are on eBay.ca, but not all of them.

All of those listings that are on eBay.com, in US$, are still visible to searchers in the US. They all have shipping availble to the US, because you can't block selling or shipping to US buyers when you are listing on eBay.com.

@greenmangoes  and @catncaboodle -- FYI.

For .com you can't outright block US shipments.  It requires a work around such as jacking up US shipping and/or handling  to crazy levels that nobody will in the US will want to buy items, or if they do you are more than covered for any customs charges.

I'm stopping all sales to US as of today.   One of my UPS packages shipped yesterday just got hit with almost $100 USD charge on the customer side, it was declared Canadian and valued less than $200 USD.  Same declaration, same HTS code I've been using for months.

Same thing here. Store on time away for 2 weeks until we have real options that work.
I did a couple tests with Ebaymag.com, might be a good option to check out guys. One listing that was transfered from ebay.com showed up 5 days after on ebay.ca. Pretty much the same listing but the item number changes. I will transfer a few more.  I decided that all my Swiss vintage watches won't be available to U.S. buyers anymore, as they now have a new 39% Trump tariff, either a $75 ou $1800 watch. I will lose a bunch of good regular U.S. buyers. I will offer shipping to Canadians and new markets overseas.
