PRECAUTIONARY EIS HEADS UP
To Folks with repeat global customers and others,
It may be wise to employ precautions when shipping for the 1st time via EIS. When I ship internationally if items are fragile or expensive I send a photo with a thank you note to the buyer on shipping day. Because EIS adds extra handling at the "hub" and the delivery from Kelowna to a buyer via Ontario takes much longer I send this info to all buyers using EIS.
What this triggered:
A week after shipping an EIS order I received a message from a repeat customes in the Netherlands.
"This is not my adres!" along with a copy of my photo and his actual address. (Sent it a week ago)
He had received my outgoing photo and, a week later, noticed eBay's hub addy on the mailing label causing panic. My listings include Canada Post Tracked Packet Int and CP Xpresspost Int but for one reason or another, the customer unknowingly ordered through EIS. This caused me to have to troubleshoot his surprise.
I can't understand why eBay would release a new Canadian shipping option without some sort of flag or notice to the buyers at checkout. I'm guessing (correct me if I'm wrong) EIS is not showing as a "new option" in shipping details. Maybe eBay has a pop up or they shoot off a roman candle to congratulate them for using a new service but I doubt it. In this case he didn't see it. I t's great my buyer reached out. He has made purchases in the past and EIS wasn't an option. His trust regarding time and cost has been the status quo.
Some sort of clarification identifying shipping cost and shipping speed built into EIS should be obvious to buyers. Obvious enough to circumvent international language barriers.
PLEASE NOTE: New shipping Options:
Cheapest (i) Trk Pkt Int/ EIS/Xpresspot
Fastest (i) Xpresspost/Trk Pkt Int/EIS
NEW: eBay Intenational Shipping (i) Buyer Benefits
Thank you! I hope this heads up prevents buyer surprises and possible repercussions.

There's a link to further information on eIS on every listing that uses it. I think your buyer chose eIS because, believe it or not, it was likely the least expensive of the three options you made available to the Netherlands. (The other two options show up if the buyer clicks the "See details" link next to the info button.)
The "learn more" link sends the user to a page with information on eIS from a buyer's perspective:
https://pages.ebay.ca/international-shipping/
It could be a little clearer, perhaps, that the item goes through an intermediary hub before being forwarded to the buyer, but then again, I doubt most sellers are in the habit of sending their buyers photos of their packaged items with the hub address on it.
Additionally, I don't know if this is still being done, but with the small handful of items I've had sent through the US eIS, I've received email updates that explain the three stages the shipment experiences while en route. Perhaps those emails got stuck in your buyer's spam filter.
CORRECTION (Now that I know the item in question): eIS was in the middle of the pack when it came to the shipping price of the options you presented for the Netherlands. Some international buyers prefer eIS to postal options if they have postal services or customs bureaux that are problematic, but that's probably not the case for this buyer.

Thanks but I don't think your assumption is correct. In this case Trk Pkt would have been about $6 cheaper than EIS.
Not sure what buyers in the Netherlands default view is or how local currency options are displayed. In any event like Amazon and other platforms manage to show. Nothing "defaults" on Amazon. All shipping choices (and inherit import charge potentials) need to be clear before checkout particualrily if eBay offer new options.
In this case no import charges apply however when they do clarification should show up to EIS 's benefit.

It's not an assumption. I looked up the completed listing for the Christmas cards. You provide three shipping options. eIS is in the middle when it comes to price, $11 or so more than Tracked Packet but almost $17 less than Xpresspost. (See attached screenshot.)
For the Dee Lippingwell book--the first item that I checked--eIS was far and away the least expensive option. Check it out for yourself the way a prospective buyer would. (Using an incognito or private browser window would probably work best.)

Thank you.
The intent of the thread is not to clutter things here with a devil in the details. It's simple.
I was taken off guard. This is a heads up to others using EIS to save time for others.
No time or need to be further analyical. EIS is what it is.
I have a listing insert developed to prevent reoccurances.
If other westerners using EIS would like a copy of my listing insert DM me. I will send it. You're also welcome to copy and modify it as needed from my future listings. It will be down the page under "INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE NOTE:"
Happy to pass it along!
Thanks again for your input.

Okay- those lists always look as if there are huge delays but.
You mailed on Nov 26.
The shipment reached Calgary the same day.
Regina on Nov 27
Winnipeg Nov 28
Mississauga Nov 30 (Sunday)
EIS hub on Dec 2 and passed to Asendia on the same day.
I don't understand the stop in Regina, why not directly from Calgary to Mississauga or at least Winnipeg?
The eIS hub also does customs clearance for the receiving country.

In this case Trk Pkt would have been about $6 cheaper than EIS.
Not to the customer.
They would be charged import fees, duty (no more $800 de minimus) and tariff of the day on arrival.
Possibly also a "customs brokerage fee".
Those costs are charged to the customer when you use eIS, and paid before you ship.
I have had one order refused when the buyer was faced with unexpected import fees already. It still has not returned to me.

I have added "US buyers may be subject to Trump Tariff " to all my new listings and also to any Offers I send out.
Oddly, I think it may have encouraged overseas buyers, by reminding them that Canada don't play that game.

I think you missed the part about this being a sale to a buyer in the Netherlands. This item's value is well below the Netherlands' de minimis and they would have been charged VAT by eBay (not eIS) at Checkout.
