EIS vs chit chats/ stallion etc?

Do you guys think rates to ship small/ low value shipments from Canada to the USA via EIS will be comparable to chit chats/ stallion express going forward? I live in Toronto btw so I’m sure that will help. Although in 3 years I do plan on moving to London or Windsor Ontario for cheaper housing.

I want to keep Canada post eBay labels for Canada and all international shipments but ideally I’d want to strictly use EIS for the USA only since it’s soon to become a complicated mess to ship there going forward since Canada post is out of the question due to tariffs even for CUSMA stuff and they are requiring DDP for everything.

Do you think eBay will allow me to use EIS ONLY for USA ? Ideally I’d like to keep chit chats as my backup option. I’m assuming EIS will allow us to use Canada post to ship to the sorting location for the EIS program and honestly I’m trying to simplify my business as much as possible and am already anticipating a drop in American sales no matter how you slice it.

If prices are comparable for EIS vs chit chats: stallion for small low value shipments to the USA I’m definitely going to use it.

Even if it’s a dollar or 2 more expensive and takes a few more days to get to the customer. It’s a small price to pay for my sanity and for the sake of streamlining my business like it was pre-trump.

Going forward the focus will be on prioritizing Canada and international sales.

According to the most recent communication from eBay, you should be able to ship to a country both directly using your choice of services/costs, and using the eIS. Buyers will be able to choose the one they prefer.

Nobody knows what eIS will cost or which carriers they will use for each order aside from the indication that international buyers will pay your domestic rate+eIS costs. Meaning, the rate that international buyers see will be made up of two shipping rates combined. First to have you ship it domestically to eIS, and then to have eIS ship it to them.

I would expect that eIS will be more expensive for the buyer than you shipping directly via Chit Chats. But I have no way of knowing for sure. Maybe they leverage Canada Post to give them great rates that are exclusive to eIS. I guess we will have to wait and see.

do you think it would be possible to have no shipping rate available for USA other than EIS?

I really want to streamline my stuff to use Canada Post for as much as possible so im not going to multiple different post offices

UNTIL October, there is no way to know what eBay.CA is going to do...speculation, assumptions, get nothing accomplished...this is a wait and see...Right now P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E is a necessity.

If you comb through the Buyer Central board, you’re going to find a number of threads where there are complaints about the US version of eIS being pricey and slower than a similar shipment using USPS.

It’s been a while since I investigated this, but in the past I found that eIS’s shipping rates cheaper than USPS counter rates but generally more expensive than consolidators operating along the lines of Chit Chats. And then, as @ilikehockeyjerseys points out, you have to factor in a second shipping charge (unless you offer “free” domestic shipping).

Consider that eIS has a lot of perks associated with it that have to be paid for somehow. The program is basically using discounted international shipping and marking it up to help defray the costs of its operations.
