Greetings Ebay Canada Community Members, Sellers and Buyer!
It is October and it was stated somewhere that the Ebay International Shipping would be launching sometime in October 2025.
I just wanted to know if EiS is online yet?
If it is, what is the procedure aside from shipping your sold item to a designated Hub somewhere is Mississuaga?
I'm also hopeful, once online, that Chit Chats can ship the item to the Hub, but as of yet, I am currently Time Away, awaiting the EiS to be active and with Canada Post in a labor dispute is causing headaches all around.
Cheers and All the Best to your Buying and Selling!!
Kindest,

@lotzofuniquegoodies, I honestly don't think this is the issue you're making it out to be. How many Canadian sellers are selling Salton self-sealer bags right now besides you? Most Canadian sellers on eBay have figured out that they need to carve a niche for themselves and sell stuff that's reasonably popular but without overly duplicating what other sellers are selling. Given what you sell, I doubt you'd be scooped by a seller from Hamilton.
Also keep in mind that even if there were other eIS shipping hubs in Canada, the lower domestic shipping price might be negated by a higher eIS shipping price.
@lotzofuniquegoodies wrote:Where would everything go once it left Toronto? Chicago? Isn't that where eastern sellers routinely report problems with major delays currently? I have had no issues with shipments routed via LAX.
If I recall correctly, the issues in Chicago are with USPS facilities which would not be used by eIS.
eIS USA to Canada uses CP in certain cases. (Those cases being that it is the most economical method.) Couriers are just more expensive plus they do not deliver to PO boxes. No reason once items have been cleared they wouldn't end up in the USPS mail stream. Not like we will ever find out what the end of line method will be.
With eIS Canada to USA can we ship to PO boxes?

For Canadian eIS, we'd need to figure out where the consolidated shipments would end up and how customs would handle them. This might be a bit dicey to predict given the present US administration's obsession with border control. But given eIS US's history of using alternative carriers in other countries for last-mile delivery, I wouldn't be surprised if USPS is not used for last-mile delivery in the US.

I don't think eIS would give you the opportunity to try. See "Undeliverable Items" section in the eIS Buyer Terms and Conditions:

Six of one , half a dozen of the other.
We have one tenth the population, and by extension one tenth the shipping.
But if one tenth of one percent of US shipping goes internationally and one percent of Canadian shipping goes internationally (mostly US) then the numbers are about the same.
Unless my dynumeric mind has led me wrong again.

I've reviewed several layers of TOS/FAQ but had not seen that 1 so far.
This tidbit is interesting regarding returns.
🤣Good one!!!!!

@marnotom! wrote:I can't see anything in the eIS Canada Seller Terms and Conditions that states that a trackable shipping method to the hub is required, only that upon eBay’s notice that the Buyer has paid for an item(s), you will promptly deliver the EIS Item(s) to the Canadian Shipping Hub address provided to you in accordance with your listing.
I think it's pretty obvious that eBay will setup a similar eIS, compared to the one already working in the US. Down there, the shipping to the eIS hubs must be fully tracked.
eBay International Shipping | eBay
When shipping your item to the domestic shipping hub, always add tracking details and include the reference number on the label to ensure it arrives safely. This is done automatically for you if you create the shipping label on eBay.

Something curious in the 'eBay International Shipping - Canada Seller Terms & Conditions':
According to Paragraph 2(a)(ii), the hub 'is managed by third party service providers'. So eBay does not actually run the hub. They have contracted out its operation to a third party.

100% of eBay's involvement in shipping is operated by third parties under contract. It has always been this way for all eBay sites.

And Managed Payments is run by the third party payment processor Ayden in the Netherlands.
Just as eBay set up their own processor Billpoint, but quickly switched to the third party Paypal.

I had a phone call today from someone at ebay re EIS (I opted out). They were checking in about the program and wanted my feedback.
The call was over very quickly (3 mins max) after i basiclly said, I use lettermail in Canada, my customers in Canada are not about to start paying more to ship items in Canada with tracking becasue I need to meet that general requirement to use EIS and be protected
I also said I can mail directly to my customers cheaper then the EIS program (since what I sell is going through as tariff free)
I did suggest that they need to have an option on listings for sellers who do use lettermail to have a checkbox or soemthing to say charge this tracked price to people who are outside of Canada.
the guy said I was not the first person to bring up these concerns with the program in Canada.

If it's like the Ebay.com's IS program, the postage to their facility is included in the postage indicated.

Where were you able to find that “general requirement,” @regs43? I’ve searched the eIS Canada terms and conditions pretty thoroughly (I think) and I can’t find a requirement to use trackable shipping. Or are you meaning that it’s pretty much implied by the other conditions in the Program Rules?

Big difference between the average Canadian seller and US seller is that out of neccessity Canadian sellers have dealt with international shipping all the time. Most US sellers sell internally and zippo interest in dealing with any international paperwork - that is not a criticism as most Canadians would do the same under those circumstances.
It just means Canadian sellers are not intimidated on going it alone without EIS for US shipments. It sounds like eBay was expecting Canadian reaction to be the same as in the US without considering the differences.

To be protected you need tracking, it was in one of the emails or a question someone asked and got areply from the eIS program (may have been in a different group). You can send stuff lettermail but there will be no proof it arrives to the Hub so not sure how well thats going to go.

So, pretty much the same as with a direct shipment, then. There’s no actual requirement to use tracking / delivery confirmation on a shipment to the hub, but if you want the area below your tailbone covered in the event it disappears after it’s accepted at the hub, you should have it.

I haven't received the invite for International Shipping yet. It says to increase the chances of enrollment to ensure my listings are up to date with Country of Origin. I know most of my listings have Country of Origin, but a few may not. Any way of easily searching to find out which listings may be missing that?
10-15-2025 11:37 AM
it's now October 15 and we still haven't been enrolled into the eIS program. I've seen that others have already been enrolled, is anyone else still wihtout it, or do we just not qualify?
10-15-2025 01:39 PM
I too have not been enrolled (to the best of my knowledge). Nor have I received a message regarding status.
Half way through October. Wait and see I guess.
10-15-2025 03:09 PM
I'm still waiting as well. Like, come on, hurry up already eBay!

I still haven't been and as far as I know I meet all of the early requirements.
