Just got an email that I'm set up with eBay international shipping

Finally some good news for us. Check your inbox, just got the email about 10 minutes ago. Not sure how it all works yet but just wanted to get the word out there.

If you're not sure how the service works, there are some links to some informative eBay pages on this recent thread:

I received the email this morning too. Is it working on your end? Nothing has changed on my side.  If I browse from a different country, I see nothing new so far.

It makes sense that the program starts with stores, like the did in the US.

For us, small potatoes sellers, it will likely be a while before we are elegible for it.

We received the email, but it doesn't seem to be working yet. Can't even find the "opt out" or "opt in" options in the Shipping Preferences section. Best guess is that it hasn't actually launched yet.

Is the eis program working for anyone who has received the email?

I tried some finding my listings in various countries, and yeah doesn't seem like it's working yet.

Just looked at your Dogma Blu-ray listing and switched it to USA shipping and is shows EIS at cost of 22.71 CAD.

Re: Just got an email that I'm set up with eBay international shipping

I also see eBay International Shipping applied to one of your Littlest Pet Shop figurines.

Shipping cost to the US is C$22.84, with an estimated "import fee" of C$1.90 with the explanation

eBay is charging this fee to facilitate the import of your item on your behalf and ensure your item arrives without fees due to customs or third party service providers. Import fees may not be refundable.

Estimated delivery date between October 27 and November 4.  (Australia is between November 5 and November 19, for what it's worth.)

Oh interesting, thanks to both of you. I checked earlier today but I guess it's updated since then. Kinda pricey but expected.

I have a bunch of countries excluded from my normal shipping (including USA at the moment) so good to know they're showing up.

Re: Just got an email that I'm set up with eBay international shipping

It was activated in my store a little over an hour ago. Everything seems to be working fine. I realized this because there was an international sale that already came in from a country I did'nt ship to in the past.

Seems this is the end of shipping lower cost items. Good luck trying to sell $10 items with $22 shipping. I'm so glad I closed my store.

Re: Just got an email that I'm set up with eBay international shipping

It's weird, if I go to the item on eBay.ca with a Canadian postal code it shows up. Then I can switch it to USA and it'll show the international shipping program price. But if I just go to eBay.com and search with an American zip code nothing shows up, which is a problem.

Probably should stop testing things and just go to bed haha.

I removed all excluded countries from my business policies.  Check if the United States is still checked in the Exclude List, it could be only that.

Re: Just got an email that I'm set up with eBay international shipping

No news for me yet and I do run a store and should be eligible.

I likely won’t use EIS for many things because I’m CUSMA registered for most of my items and have chitchats but some items I’ll use EIS for simplicity sake. Like items made outside of North America when shipping to USA only. Shipping non North American items to Canada and international I’m fine using Canada post or chit chats.

i do hope eBay remives that alarmist hideous blue banner in my listings or at least rewords it because it's totally false. I sell mostly CUSMA registered items.

Re: Just got an email that I'm set up with eBay international shipping

I've looked at a few stores that have been activated with eIS, and it seems to be all over the place. Some items have it, some don't. Stuff doesn't show up on .com, etc.

My assumption would be that it's a multi-step process and not an instant things where your items just show up properly.

Re: Just got an email that I'm set up with eBay international shipping

I pay for a store and got no notice of enrollment. Seems like it was a very small roll-out to "test the waters" so to speak. But from what I've heard (here and on Facebook groups), people are already making sales through Canadian eIS!

I disagree. I regularly sell low-value items internationally where the cost of shipping greatly exceeds the cost of the item. Sent out a $20 CD to Spain last week and the buyer paid $35 in UPS shipping. You have no idea who may be looking for your item, and the availability of said item where they live.

If someone really wants something, and you're the cheapest option to their location, then they'll pay whatever they need to pay.

This has been my experience as well, completely random. Tried toggling a few things and it didn't make a difference.

Re: Just got an email that I'm set up with eBay international shipping

I totally disagree. You're talking exceptions rather than the basic rule. Personally I love baseball cards and being in Canada the best collection of stuff is in the USA. I see so much interesting stuff priced in the $5-$10 range. But the EIS in the USA would charge me $18 for shipping. I can't justify this outrageous cost. I haven't bought any item from a US seller in over 8 years. At one time it was roughly $5 for shipping. Unless you have very unique or the rarest of the rare items this will bleed sales guaranteed.
