If my available funds (on my currently not yet used ebay.ca account) is showing in C$, does that mean my payout is in Canadian dollars?
Just wanted to check I didn't need to open a US dollars account. When I set up for MP this morning it didn't ask me which currency so I wondered if that's something I'd chosen before.
I think I'm going to open a store there when I'm ready to start listing, that way I can put up my same banner that's on my US store (to brand it), etc. Trying to iron out the kinks before I start listing. I've decided it's OK if I don't sell for a few days because I'm on time away (and don't have any Canadian eBay listings up yet).

Yes, the .ca site only pays in Canadian dollars. If you have a Canadian address and are posting on .ca they wouldnt ask which currency as there is no choice.
Way back when I started selling here you could still get paid in US dollars but that was changed back about 10 years ago or so.

Canadian sellers can still recieve US Dollar Payouts, the choice has to be made at the time you register for Managed Payments and it cannmot be changed.

Of course it makes no sense to get USD payouts if you are listing on.ca

I wasn't given a choice, but the available funds are in C$, so I'm presuming they won't convert it into USD before depositing it?
I'm also presuming that I can't link up a C$ bank account if the payout is in USD?

Thank you recped! I'm going by memory and I thought they made me change to Canadian unless I listed on .com back in the day, but maybe I misunderstood the change (or they changed it again after). There have been so many changes I do tend to lose track, especially if they don't affect me directly.
You certainly would know better than me with more experience on both sites!

I recently moved from ebay.com to ebay.ca as I was told to be eligible in the new International Shipping program I had to use ebay.ca. It took a long time to redo all of my listings. I also wanted to make it easier for Canadian buyers to get accurate shipping costs, as my American sales have mostly dried up due to post-covid product oversupply issues and the huge additional costs American customers have to pay due to import tariffs on anything manufactured outside of the USA.
Once I moved over, I wanted to change my payout currency from USD to CAD to avoid currency conversion fees. I spent about an hour on the phone with eBay customer service to find out they don't allow it. First they told me if I update my bank account from a USD to a CAD account it would automatically switch my payouts to CAD currency - This was incorrect. Then a second agent told me to ask my bank to send a letter to eBay asking to change it. This was a ridiculous response, as the bank cannot force eBay to pay out in a different currency as this is determined by eBay, not the bank! Then finally I escalated the issue to be told that too bad, there's no way to change the payout currency!! So after all the trouble of relisting my items on ebay.ca, they are requiring paying out in USD and charging a currency conversion fee as my listings are now all in CAD! The only way to avoid this is to go back to using ebay.com to get paid out in USD to a USD bank account.
I believe that if eBay is not going to allow changing the payout currency from USD to CAD, the VERY LEAST they could do is exempt the sellers that are affected by this limitation from having to pay the currency conversion fee. This is extremely unfair and greedy of eBay to force this upon their sellers. As a 25+ year eBay member, I am very disappointed with eBay for the way they are handling this. Shame on you eBay for forcing this upon your sellers - you make enough with Final Value fees, Ad Promotion Fees etc.. and you're just sticking it to the seller even more with this unfair and unnecessary currency conversion fee.

Somebody with more knowledge about this may correct me, but I think the problem is that your profile in .com was already setup with a bank account in USD, and basically you cannot change it.
The only possible thing that you could do is to create a new seller account in .ca and start fresh with a new bank account, but of course you'd have to redo all your listings.
