UPS quote on my listing is $50 higher than with UPS website calculator for Canadian shipment.

I have a parcel going to Toronto M6E 2H4 and have added UPS Standard as an option on the listing. The box is 14 x 14 x 12 inch 6.6 lbs (35 x 35 x 30 3 kg).

The eBay calculator is showing $121.84 but when I check the calculator on the UPS website it shows $70.69.

This is the listing:

Any help is appreciated.

In your Shipping Preferences for the Carrier rate settings, you need to select "eBay discounted rates" which means that you will offer buyers eBay discounted carrier rates.

$106.76 to Ottawa.  And UPS is the only option I am being presented with.

I would guess that your size may be just over a trigger point to push it to the next price level.

Some additional information. I called 2 UPS stores here for a quote:

The first store (great service prior to this) same dimensions 6 pounds $39.71.

Second store same dimensions 6 pounds $53.00.

(I realize UPS Stores are franchises and that would account for some discrepancy).

So I now have 4 very different quotes for the same parcel.

I tried changing the size of the box on my listing but a 4 x 4 x 4 inch box weighing 1 pound still cost $80.00.

I have taken the listing down.

Don't use UPS for this. Canada Post is like $20. And there must be something wrong with how you entered your dimensions or info, because I ship large 50 pound boxes from the west coast to Toronto and it costs about $60 max with UPS with ebay labels.

Thank you, I have checked and rechecked but cannot find where I have entered incorrect info. The customer has decided they want UPS delivery for a couple of reasons and I am happy to oblige (I have mainly used Canada Post since 1995). This is the first time I have tried adding a UPS option to a listing although I have successfully shipped using UPS in the past and found their rates to be reasonable.

Interestingly enough the eBay calculator on the listing (that I took down) for Canada Post Expedited showed $42.74  which was very close to the Canada Post website at $42.82 - also for Expedited, so I would call that a match. (I removed the Canada Post option and just left UPS thinking that might help, it didn't).

Thank you, I will definitely look in to that. So far the rates that customers pay and what I get charged with Canada Post are pretty close, a dollar or two on $40. I think that is where I am going to find the answer, though, I need to check off something, or uncheck something for UPS.

I applied the "eBay discounted rates" and the UPS Standard quote now looks a lot more reasonable for my customer.

Thank you dkbooks and everyone.

$42 is still almost double what I pay for that size and weight of item to Toronto. Perhaps you live in a small town? Are the rates you are paying usually this high? You can also buy those prepaid Canada post boxes that work up to 11 pounds and if it fits, it ships. I think the largest box is $33.

It might be worth your while also looking into Click Ship. That same package, from Edmonton (I'm guessing on the postal code) to Toronto comes in at $24.75 for Purolator, $24.80 for Canpar, and $25.44 for UPS (including tax). You can't show those as calculated rates on eBay, but you can always refund your buyer the extra if you wish.
