That is good. It's good they are getting the message the US buyers are paying the tariffs. It's best to prepare them for the truth than continue the fairy tail that Trump wants them to believe.

That red flag you mention perhaps explains why, for the 1st time in the history of the internet I have far more orders this week on Etsy than on Ebay. I haven't see ratio like this. Etsy doens't explain things and 50% of buyers on Etsy are okay  for me to send them additional invoice. I just create digital item and have them pay for it, half of them comply without issues, whether they are aware about tariffs or not, almost all feel apologetic and quite humuliated they need to pay the tariffs but nobody has any complains or any expectations that seller should be paying them.

So I think the tariffs are working their way through the US voters minds, slowly but for sure. The public opinion may have an impact on how to ruling on tariffs in the supreme court ends.

Most US buyers agree with charging tariffs on products from China or cheap markets in general but anybody I spoke with feel scharging tarifs on European or Canadian products is total nuts.

I had a buyer asking me to put the item on hold to wait for the Supreme court to cancel tariffs, he said it's for sure going to be canceled. So I think people really have enough of the tarifs dance the way Trump plays it now.

I am curious to know how many sellers have put their stores on vacation mode because they are unable to block US buyers from the .com site? To move the listings to .ca would be an onerous one by one relisting process.

Unfortunately the tariffs that got slapped as being unconstitutional are not the real issue for most eBay sellers, it's the removal of de miminis.  Even with zero tariffs, there would still be duties/brokerage/taxes/processing fees when shipping to the US.

"Unable to block US buyers from the .com site".  = Store on vacation...

I stopped selling on eBay for a while and recently rejoined. I set US shipping to the Canada Post calculated rate as I was unaware of this happening. Now I'm stuck paying double for UPS/FedEX.

eBay really should've disabled Canada Post as a shipping method on the listings, or at least stick a warning there rather than letting you find out after a buyer made the purchase.

You can still buy Canada Post labels outside of eBay to fulfill your orders. Either direct through SnapShip, or through third-party sites like NetParcel or Shippo. You won't get as high of a discount as you did with eBay Labels, but it's still probably cheaper than UPS/FedEx. For example, the video game you sold a couple of days ago might be $2-3 more to ship directly with Canada Post vs. through eBay Labels.

The way the eBay website is set up, there is no perfect way to do it. The assumption is that sellers read the news updates that they push out.

If they disabled listings that had Canada Post as a shipping option or removed it entirely, it would be worse. That means that anybody who prepared to use Canada Post outside of eBay would get screwed. That outcome would have been much worse.

If you want to use Canada Post, all you need to do is go into your shipping settings and turn off the option for calculated shipping to use discounted eBay rates. Buyers will then be charged the standard counter rates.

Assuming your measurements are accurate, you should be able to print a label using Canada Post Snap Ship and not lose money.

Tracked packet below 100g or below 250g is pretty close to what the eBay rates were. Once you get above 250g, the price skyrockets.

It's possible that the person isn't aware of Snap Ship, Shippo, etc. Snap Ship would be the easiest to sign up for and use.

It's a very easy fix by turning off eBay discounts for calculated rates.

**bleep** doesn't Canada Post offer EVERY COMMERCIAL SHIPPER NO MATTER THEIR VOLUME the deepest discount for tracked packet USA? Most of us are deeply under water here. For God's sake help us stay competitive. And you want to get more friggin business? Do the same thing for domestic expedited rates. It's all about price kids - CPR is bleeding millions a day anyways.

I found out that all books, magazines, comics etc have no tariffs but will have processing fees, duty, taxes etc....at least that's something positive about all this nonsense.

I guess everybody will start selling books now so it will be a crowded space. How positive is that 😉

Re: eBay suspends Canada Post U.S. shipping label purchasing on August 25

After 3 weeks of national strikes, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) have commenced rotating strikes. Rotating strikes mean that only limited areas of the country will be impacted at a given time.

Given this change, and confirmation that parcels are being accepted into the network, we’ve allowed sellers to start using Canada Post services again.

However, this labour action will continue to affect the flow of domestic, inbound, and outbound shipments using Canada Post services and there remains the risk of further work stoppages or escalations.

Delayed Deliveries:

  • Packages currently with Canada Post will begin moving through the system again but there may be additional delays as they work through their backlog and the rotating strikes affect the areas where the packages are located.
  • Please hold off on reporting that your order has not arrived, as it is likely delayed in transit.
  • Our eBay Money Back Guarantee will apply if your order is delayed because of the strike. If your order does not arrive in a reasonable amount of time after the end of the labour disruption, contact us for assistance.

Shipping Options:

  • Sellers have been encouraged to offer alternative shipping options on their listings.
  • Estimated Delivery Dates (EDDs) for Canada Post services have been extended.
  • Shipments made using eIS (eBay International Shipping) have been redirected to non-Canada Post carriers. These orders are expected to arrive as scheduled unless you or the seller are located in remote areas that are dependent on Canada Post.

Returns:

  • Communicate with sellers regarding return requests to minimize disruptions.
  • If you’ve already shipped a return, it may be stuck in transit.

We are closely monitoring the situation and its impact on items in transit. For updates on the labour actions and eBay’s response, please visit the Canada Post website and eBay’s Canada Post Strike page.

Thank you for your continued understanding and trust in eBay.

@cottagewoman

If you purchase postage direct thru SSB account you get the level discount associated. Because I barely use now I only get level 1. With eBay labels it has been quoted as level 4. The discount is associated to eBay as a group discount under a master account number. Levels below. Expedited Canada states with level 4 UP TO 10% which leaves it up to variables.
