Bigger picture - ain't so rosy

Just a few notes gathered from the larger forces at play -
Lululemon self-fulfills 66% of their e-commerce orders and the end of de minimis means they'll take a 240 million USD hit to their bottom line. All sectors big and small are taking a hit due to the end of de minimis. Of course Lululemon can move their fulfillment state side and only pay tariffs on wholesale cost, but given their own numbers this isn't a cheap fix!

In the dismal job reports issued today (net loss of 66,000) in Canada, 44,000 of those losses were self employed workers. The shed is starting. Not saying all attributed to de minimis, but it can't help.

And, not surprisingly, we get crickets from Carney and the Liberals.

The "elbows up" rethoric is nothing but.

we have no idea what is going on "behind the scenes"...Carney is a smart dude and will do what is best for Canada, unlike DT who does what is best for DT...

Would love to hear something out of the PMO though re SMBs, since all of what is happening to us hits 66% if the private sector job market.

Re: Bigger picture - ain't so rosy

Press info does mention an increase to a fund to aid SMBs to 1 Billion. Not sure if it's loans or assistance programs. We could use a couple things for sure - highest tier of rate reductions for CP domestic labels, a true working solution for US DDP via CP to start.

I think it's only prudent to wait until the Supreme Court ruling on the legality of the tariffs and to see how Trump responds to it before money gets poured into a "solution" that might not even be necessary in the long run.

Just to say that the reality today is rough, I wanted to bring a few bits of info from outside our very specific circumstance, and to know the end of de minimis is hurting Canadian business both big and small.
