EiS online yet? Address to EiS Hub in Mississauga? and Other Q's

Greetings Ebay Canada Community Members, Sellers and Buyer!

It is October and it was stated somewhere that the Ebay International Shipping would be launching sometime in October 2025.

I just wanted to know if EiS is online yet?

If it is, what is the procedure aside from shipping your sold item to a designated Hub somewhere is Mississuaga?

I'm also hopeful, once online, that Chit Chats can ship the item to the Hub, but as of yet, I am currently Time Away, awaiting the EiS to be active and with Canada Post in a labor dispute is causing headaches all around.

Cheers and All the Best to your Buying and Selling!!

Kindest,

903livehood

EIS is NOT active yet.

If you are in the program eBay will provide the address, you ship to that address and that is the end of the story as far as you are concerned.

I have no idea if eBay will require any additional information about the contents (Country Of Origin, HST codes etc.).

There are other unknowns such as "can packages be dropped off if you are local to the EIS facility" or "can multiple orders be shipped to the facility in bulk".

I don't expect eBay to be very forthcoming about these or other questions sellers may have.

There's already a new field that I see showing up.

This is at the bottom of the form, before Item Disclosures.

item_origin.png

It seems to take the Country of Manufacture in the normal form section automatically.

A tool to see which items are missing this field, if used for eIS, would also be useful, devon@ebay

I noticed this field as well. Yesterday.

The field was populated automatically with what was believed to be the country of origin. In this case Sweden.

The potential date was mentioned in the opt-out page, but that was before the strike:

https://www.ebay.ca/srv/survey/a/eis-optout

As early as October 1, eligible listings on eBay.ca and cafr.eBay.ca will be automatically opted in to the eBay International Shipping program

Roll out speed is unknown(?):

https://www.ebay.ca/sellercentre/shipping/ebay-international-shipping

How does enrollment and eligibility work with eBay International Shipping?
Enrollment for Canadian sellers will start in October, 2025.

eBay will gradually expand the program’s coverage and enroll sellers when possible. You will be notified via email and Messages in My eBay about this change to your account as soon as it happens.

To maximize the likelihood of being enrolled in eBay International Shipping early, we recommend adding Country/Region of Manufacture (country of origin) information to your listings.

Thanks.

I did read this information when posted.

Lacked details and specifics as per Ebay:)

Interesting to see how/when Canada Post evolves.

Perhaps horse before the cart scenario with Ebay.

Hi @chicweb! Thank you for the suggestion and I will be sure to share this with the Shipping team as a potential feature to have added.

The general info blurb on the Canadian eIS can be found here:

https://www.ebay.ca/help/selling/shipping-items/setting-shipping-options/ebay-international-shipping...

and the terms and conditions associated with sellers using the program can be found here:

https://pages.ebay.ca/internationalshippingprogram/seller/terms/

I would pay particular attention to the section entitled “Program Rules”.

My first take on this based on a quick scan of both pages is that the list of countries covered by Canadian eIS isn’t nearly as extensive as the list for US eIS.

Thank you!

It could be as simple as a new filter in the active listing dashboard.

With 4k items (and 12k waiting to be added), that could be useful... Haha.

They could even add it to the Listings Quality Report as a field until they implemented something else. That way it shouldn't break anything but at least gives people access to the information.

Does the seller have to pay for shipping to Ontario?  If so it is not really a practical solution?

EIS, the best thing like ever, solve all your export problems, 1 step, limit liability, only increase buyers shipping costs even higher.

You, in the back, with questions, please sit down now.

Re: EiS online yet? Address to EiS Hub in Mississauga? and Other Q's

The buyer pays your domestic rate combined with eBay's international rate. They also pay any import fees.

There are two issues with shipping to the USA after the changes in the import laws.

1) Sellers have no way to collect import fees + added complications with DDP shipping.

2) Items are now more expensive for US buyers. Making them less likely to buy. Instead of spending $7-$20 CAD on a discounted Tracked Packet label, they now have to pay shipping fees along with (in some cases) expensive import fees.

eIS solves #1. Anybody can ship internationally with zero knowledge about how to do so. They just need to accurately measure their item and include the proper COI.

It does not solve #2. Unless you sell items that are exempt from duties/tariffs, and you have a shipping service that can successfully declare and ship them as such (Stallion?), you're not getting the US market back. You might get a small amount of buyers from the US market, but it's not going to be like before.

I think the most optimistic view of the eIS program is that opening up additional international destinations might help offset (some) of the loss of US business. A large range of sellers were not previously shipping internationally.  I don't think anybody realistically expects to get back the same volume of US business they had before. For most sellers, that's over with, even with the eIS program.

Country of Origin (CoO) has been an Item Specific in all of my categories for many years.

My only problem is that some of my products were made in countries that no longer exist (Newfoundland) or which have changed their names (Eswatini).

Also stamp lots from assorted countries are questionable as to what to put.

Apparently you don't understand how an eIS shipping program works....Exactly who did you expect to pay that shipping?? Just as USA sellers have to pay the shipping to the eIS Hub in the USA, Canadian sellers will have to do likewiseto the Canadian eIS Hub for the eIS shipping program here in Canada !

But the sellers pay for the shipping from what the buyer pays them and eIS. In essence, from the seller’s perspective, they’re getting paid for a domestic sale and shipping to a domestic address.

Yes of course.... but there is more to eIS shipping than just the "domestic shipping",m so a seller has to accommodate for ALL shipping costs and those are passed on to the buyer and we all know how well Canadian buyers like that USA eIS shipping program, don't we?!!!
