EiS online yet? Address to EiS Hub in Mississauga? and Other Q's

Greetings Ebay Canada Community Members, Sellers and Buyer!

It is October and it was stated somewhere that the Ebay International Shipping would be launching sometime in October 2025.

I just wanted to know if EiS is online yet?

If it is, what is the procedure aside from shipping your sold item to a designated Hub somewhere is Mississuaga?

I'm also hopeful, once online, that Chit Chats can ship the item to the Hub, but as of yet, I am currently Time Away, awaiting the EiS to be active and with Canada Post in a labor dispute is causing headaches all around.

Cheers and All the Best to your Buying and Selling!!

Kindest,

903livehood

I read that your item has to be listed on ebay.CA,  *AND* you need to input the country of origin of where you item was made.    I haven't tried do this yet... maybe someone else in this thread has?

I'm still waiting too. I list on .ca and a lot of my items have the COO, not all (yet), but many.

It's ridiculous that they enroll sellers who don't need or want it and even opt out, then call them to find out why they've opted out instead of hurrying up and enrolling the rest of us, for whom it's the only chance to sell anything at all. Maddening!

First-hand reports I've heard from people being enrolled in the program so far are not great. Tons of glitches. New listings showing zero shipping options to the States even when specified; others showing eIS but options disappearing when listings revised; problems with country of origin being removed.

Sounds like there are a lot of bugs they're trying to squash before they roll it out to more people.

Still not enrolled either. Unless they did it without telling me.

Beware: DO NOT SHIP TO EBAY'S HUB WITH CANADA POST

Yesterday I shipped a package to Ebay's International Shipping Center using a Canada Post expedited lite label and today there wasn't even a delivery attempt. The package was sent straight to the post office and a notice card was left a couple of hours later. Needless to say that no one will pick up the package since the recipient isn't even in Canada. I just chatted with a Canada Post employee and they told me that they can't arrange for a new delivery.

The situation is beyond ridiculous...

Huh?  The recipient for the package as addressed would be the eIS hub in Canada, wouldn't it?

For residential shipments, the person picking up the package from the post office (or outlet) has to have identification that matches the address on the package.  The name on the package doesn't matter.  The address does.

I'm not sure how this works for packages sent to a business.

@ct-v

Have you or has anyone else googled the eIS delivery address? Is it a business?

@marnotom!

If it is a business address and it happens to be closed for whatever reason....holiday...closed for inventory...death in the family....they just deliver the next business days. Being carded sounds fishy.

I very much doubt that they will deliver the next day in my case. Here is a screenshot of the tracking information

I work at a business, and nothing is every carded. If we have a snow day, they deliver the following day.

When I worked at a retail postal outlet we had items that were carded, generally for small businesses that were delivered to by letter carrier (and didn't get much mail). If they were closed, their package would get carded, but it's not common.

I don't remember what we required for them to pick stuff up, usually they had some proof of being at the business at that address (like other mail, utility bills, business cards). We didn't get carded mail for very many businesses, and lots of people were running businesses out of their homes/apartments (where stuff would be carded), so it wasn't a frequent issue to encounter.

@ct-v

When I worked at business(s) they got regular scheduled mail delivery. If they had volume they had scheduled pick ups or a lock box depending on hours for outgoing. The  only CP tentative rumour/suggestion was reduced home deliveryv and letting the rest of Canada enjoy community mailboxes. Apts/condos should still get regular mail delivery.  Maybe just less often. If businesses had to pick up their mail there would be a major uproar. (Business mail is still CP's bread and butter.)

Looks like the Canadian operations of the company that operates the US eIS.

Re: EiS online yet? Address to EiS Hub in Mississauga? and Other Q's

They must have planned for items being carded to the post office. It's a trivial matter to just send someone down to the post office with a form stating they're authorized to act on behalf of the business (eIS in this case). To pick up an item addressed to a business address all you need to show is a Letter of Authorization stating you can act on behalf of the business.

That being said, the bigger question is why this happened in the first place. The only reason why it would be carded is if there was no one at the address to accept the delivery. Are the staff at eIS only working certain hours, and the business was closed when the letter carrier arrived? I imagine these are just growing pains with a very new system, but they need to figure out what's going on here and fast.

I wonder if eBay properly communicated with Canada Post regarding this new shipping hub. Once they start receiving hundreds of parcels a day Canada Post is going to very quickly figure out the nature of this relationship - they'll be removing the address from the letter carrier's route and sending designated trucks to service it as needed. They'll ensure someone is there to receive the truckload of parcels. They can't just card everything and take it to the post office - that poor post office is going to be insanely overhwhelmed if that were to happen. They might already be overwhelmed, I can't imagine @ct-v 's parcel was the only one sent there that day...

Another anecdote I saw on one of the Facebook groups: someone sent two parcels via ChitChats domestic service to the eIS hub. I don't know which company does final mile delivery for this service, but the carrier that tried to deliver them has tried two days in a row and failed; both times the tracking update has been "no one was available".

An Instagram post from October 2 suggests the lease just took effect at the beginning of this month:

I wouldn't be surprised if the gap in communication between eBay or Sincros and Canada Post was exacerbated by the resumption of the full-scale strike.

Does it even matter (at least for you)?  You have tracking showing delivery to the address you were supposed to send it to. In theory, I think you should be fully covered.

That is an interesting question.   Makes sense, addressed correctly and tracked, it is up to the recipient to be there are arrange for pickup.  Likely just be a write-off for eBay unless the costs get to high.
