My customer chose Canada Post but FedEX/UPS are the only options shown for the US?

I recently stopped shipping to the US but a previous customer contacted me and asked if they could make a purchase. For that listing I entered Canada Post Expedited as the only option and they made their purchase, however, when I went to purchase the label FedEx is highlighted (with an option for UPS) with no option for Canada Post, even though in the sidebar it shows my customer chose Canada Post Expedited!

I see the banner that says:

Due to changes in US customs regulations, all Canada Post services to the US and Puerto Rico are disabled.

but in that case Canada Post should never have been an option on the listing:

Short version for Canada Post and not Chitchats etc:

You have to buy the label from Canada Post (online, or at counter) instead of ebay labels for US shipment, and prepay duties with Zonos to get a declaration ID that you can use online with SnapShip or at the counter.

https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/en/support/kb/sending/sending-faq/how-to-use-zonos-prepay...

In addition to higher shipping rates, you can expect to prepay Zonos 15% duties ($9) for item made in Czech Republic, 10% of the duties ($0.9), and a $3 or $4 fee depending if you take a photo with Zonos prepay app.

Get a small discount with Canada Post Solutions for small business by registering for SfSB number that you can use with Snap Ship (Canada Post):

Re: My customer chose Canada Post but FedEX/UPS are the only options shown for the US?

Thank you so much jtg! I do have a small business account with Canada Post and use Snap Ship but have not used Zonos.

Do you have any idea why Canada Post was an option on my listing when it is not actually available through eBay shipping?

I am wondering if I should just contact my customer and tell them it will be UPS instead? I have not looked in to fees they would be charged because I stopped shipping to the US.

The problem with UPS is that they may get a large import fee, and the risk is they refuse to pay the fee.

Then you have to take steps to get the package abandoned and not refund the buyer and hope it works out in your favour with ebay because the buyer loses their protection by refusing the delivery.  Some have no problems with UPS, for others it's a headache and loss.

Because it's still a viable option to ship your goods. Just because you can't purchase the service on eBay Labels doesn't mean you can't use it to ship your items. You just need to buy your label elsewhere.

True enough! I was just taken aback when I went to print the label and there was no option. I guess I was thinking it would be status quo but that was pretty naive with all of the recent changes.

I did sign up for Zonos and it went very smoothly so the parcel is on it's way albeit more costly. I rely heavily on the eBay discount as my shipments are fragile and have to go in large boxes.

Thank you again jtg your advice was succinct and very helpful!

UPS has a DDP option available through Click Ship. I haven't used it yet as I don't want to ship directly with the current environment, and even if that eventually changes I'd probably only use it on books and made in usa items. It might be worth your while to look into it though, especially if you're shipping things that are bulky.

Thank you, I will look in to that!

I am pretty content at the present time just shipping within Canada. This was an exception for a previous customer but I have learned a lot in case I do want to start shipping to the US again.

Apparently the reason Zonos is working with USPS on tariffs is that they were big donors to Trump.

I'm using UPS who at least are honest crooks.
