Well I must admit this one caught me off guard. I had thought as long as we had COO listed on our items it would not be a problem. Apparently not so. Are they collecting the tariffs up front? eBay is saying we should use UPS, Purolator or similiar. Question, if printing a label for one of these companies is the shipping fee calculated to show the buyer like CP expedited is for listing on .ca? If so I guess I could leave US shipping on my Canadian listings. Even though the US has always been my biggest market I see no way around the listings on .com but to end them & relist on .ca. Am very afraid without access to the US market at comparable shipping rates (our US tracked packet through eBay was reasonable) that my business will be hard hit.
Wondering what everyone else is doing? Sure would be nice if there was even a small minimal amount that did not require tariffs. Cannot imagine US citizens will be thrilled with this either.

I'm just using UPS to ship my items. The duties and tariffs are still being collected at the border by the importer but Canada Post and other nations know that no one is going to pay $80-$200 on a small item so they don't want to deal with millions of returns. Hopefully ebay will set up a global shipping program in Canada.

When using UPS to the united states, is there still the possibility of the receiver refusing the package? and then what?

Under the new U.S. regulations, starting August 29, shipments to the US can no longer be sent DDU (delivered duty unpaid; that is, duty/tariff paid at time of receipt). As of August 29, shipments to the U.S. can only be sent DDP (delivered duty paid; that is, duty/tariff paid at time of shipping). Many courier services offer DDP shipping, but Canada Post does not.

Here's the problem as I see it. This is a bigger longer situation than setting up a global shipping program. It's the amount of sellers who are going to quit selling on the site. And no one is going to sign up to sell in this environment. That means less sellers, less buyers and less income for eBay. And how long will the Canada site operate under these conditions. I doubt eBay will invest in the infrastructure. I worry the damage done is irreversible. I really hope I'm wrong.

So who do they collect the tariff from? I assume the sellers as it must be prepaid?

I fear you may be right. I really see my sales tanking as the largest percentage of my sales were to the US.

Yeah, Ebay's Canadian operation numbers are going to be cooked. *Especially* if they book revenue based on seller's country when they do their country-by-country numbers.
Some ideas for eBay:
eBay Canada is going to need to do a lot to keep their volume up if other seller's numbers are like mine with 3/4 sales being to US. And I'm not even playing the "Location: Sanborn NY" game.
I've been meaning to and finally setup an account on a hobby-specific free classified site for some of my stuff. Can/US buyers will save on sales tax. I can also accept payment in major currencies without forex fees and then spend that currency elsewhere without exchanging.
The buyer can pay, eBay can pay, Canada Post can pay, I'm not going to pay for any of this.
