No option to leave a comment about the seller and i HAVE to rate the item? Are they trying to totally discourage people from leaving feedback...is that what their aim is?

Is this something new?
I left feedback for a seller a few days ago, and I was able to 1. Ignore the "Rate Item" section, and 2. Comment or describe my buying experience with the seller.

FB screen was changed sometime in '25.
Comments entered in the "Tell us more about this item" box will appear on seller's profile along with the experience rating ... but may lead to customers commenting on the item (ex. "Hated this film!!") rather than the seller's performance.
The optional drop-down menu can be used to rate the description accuracy, shipping cost, shipping time, and seller communication. Few have been doing that since the FB screen was changed.

This was more tinkering under the hood for no gain. I still rely on the older system for leaving feedback and refuse to ante in on AI automagical feedback leaving. Vast majority of buyers are no longer leaving feedback as it is.

all i saw was what lotz posted above. No option to leave comment or dsr's for the seller. Did i miss something? I was annoyed and didn't look real hard.

Like most everything on eBay there are multiple ways to leave feedback. I just stick with old standby (vs reminders) of drop down from orders link. Probably even varies PC to App. Only use PC.

I've had that happen. I got neutral feedback because the buyer enjoyed the movie, but not as much as some of the previous ones in the series 🙄

I believe this raiting system is more for eBays records, and it affects the Star raiting for the Seller, but to leave actual feedback, I do believe you need to go to your purchases screen and select the More Actions/Blue Button where you can leave direct feedback for the Seller, I remember doing this form and then left feedback separately. I think one is for eBay like a survey, and then there os a second personalized feedback that you can leave for the Seller within your Purchase history. I hope this helps

They never have.
Average has been below 40% of transactions getting any feedback for all of this century.
There is a new Automatic Feedback which gives sellers (at least) positive FB if nothing negative is posted after XX days.

If automatic feedback is up and running, it's not coming my way. My inbound is a trickle at best but constantly get reminders for any purchases I have made...even if the transaction was cancelled by seller.

I remember seeing somewhere that automatic feedback works mostly for very fresh sellers , so that they are not discouraged by buyers ignoring them by not leaving any feedback.
And it kinda matches my experience. When I started selling some stuff in 2025, I got one auto-feedback within my first 5-7 sales. None later.

The new (September) Auto Feedback system for Sellers is only a US thing, it does not exist in Canada (yet?).

Noticed this a.m. that the screen for providing feedback to sellers has changed. The "New! Rate this item" overlay that cluttered the previous screen and perhaps caused some confusion has been removed.

Ouch! Forunately the buyer didn't hate that movie and leave you negative feedback!

Ya gotta love receiving feedback for something that is entirely out of ones control. May as well be blamed for the burnt popcorn they made. Ummm kinda similar to expensive shipping. The item was heavy/bulky and your location is NOT next door!!! I've never understood why so many buyers think the cost of the item purchased controls the shipping charged.

I think you can skip this step. If this step was necessary to complete a feedback, it would be hurtful to make a seller wait a month or two to get any feedback ... at least until I actually watched the DVD I just bought.
