Re: canada to USA by Shippo!

Hi @brocante6

Yes. If you have an account with Shippo you can link it to Canada Post or your courier and get discount rates, cheaper insurance and the option to buy USPS return labels.

Here is what Shippo's AI had to say;

Hi. For orders from Canada to the United States does shippo manage the tariffs and import fees?

Shippo AI
Shippo AI says:For orders shipped from Canada to the U.S., Shippo enables you to prepay tariffs and import fees (DDP) by connecting a Zonos Account Key to your Canada Post settings. The actual management and payment of these fees are handled through the carrier and Zonos integration, not directly by Shippo.

Here's the link for more information about using Shippo with  Canada Post.

Re: canada to USA by Shippo!

Has anyone done this successfully?

It's not clear to me what to fill in properly to have DDP setup on Shippo.  With a linked Canada Post account + Zonos key, I get the usual SnapShip/sfsb rate.  Was trying it in test mode, and very unsure if I would be generating a label correctly.

If wanting to use Shippo for better discount than Canada Post sfsb look into Netparcel instead as well.

Netparcel has discounts on Canada Post labels to USA and you are able to enter your own Zonos account key to be billed by Zonos, or use Netparcel's own Zonos account and Netparcel will bill you later.  Same $1.99 Zonos fee applies.  A Zonos estimate is displayed in the steps, giving some insight into if Zonos will classify the item properly with the customs information.  With my own Zonos account key option already setup for SnapShip, Zonos worked the same as Canada Post automatic billing did, except Zonos dashboard only displays the transaction as an invoiced item, and not as a shipment on the dashboard.  Some US options such as Tracked Packet USA are not presented on Netparcel if you fill out the insurance value in package details or change some values in 'addittional services'.  Much better discount than SfSB on Tracket Packet USA for items over 1kg (21% lower than sfsb for me).

Re: canada to USA by Shippo!

The answer to the OPs thread "Is it possible to use Shippo for shipping to the USA?" is Yes. Nothing in there about Zonos or competitive rates.

I use a Shippo account for it's superior 3rd party insurance and for USPS return labels when necessary.  I ship most things within 24 hours. I don't waste time dickering over a couple bucks difference between Snapship, eBay or Shippo labels.  You never get time back.  Why make things complicated? Ship it. Move on.

Linking couriers/Zonos to Shippo can be complicated. If you have difficulty I recommend getting help from an agent. I found they respond within hours. I don't use Zonos.

I've found Shippo to have excellent "real person" customer service that will connect with you via email if you contact them directly.

Yup, what he said. I exclusively use Shippo to buy USPS labels. No Zonos required. I use DYKpost to forward package to depot just across border in USA, where USPS can then pickup. A little extra work required to provide shipment details to DYK but almost as good as the olden days with Canada Post.

Re: canada to USA by Shippo!

I have heard that Shippo doesn't offer Tracked Pkt US.
I use pp.netparcel for US bound CP labels. They have DDP integrated on their platform, so you don't have to go to zonos first. You pay for the label up front when you create it, and they bill you later for the tariff/fees, but they tell you what those fees are when you are buying your label. You can link your eBay account so you can download the orders by order number, and it posts tracking back to your eBay transaction.
When entering the info make sure you do not put a "value for insurance" on the first screen. For some reason that prevents Trkt Pkt US from showing up as a choice.
They also offer many other carriers, even UPS DDP (to pay tariffs up front) but it is very expensive to do that due to the UPS min. brokerage charges.

For the OP asking about Shippo here's the current list of CP Services from my account.

They do, but as stated elsewhere in this thread you need to purchase the service using your own Canada Post account connected/integrated into Shippo (with the Zonos account key specified), and therefore the discount level is limited to whatever Solutions for Small Business discount you have (for most people I would imagine it's only Level 1 unless you're doing a lot of parcel business with Canada Post outside of eBay/NetParcel).

Shippo used to give us higher discounts if you purchased the label using the Canada Post account linked through eBay (and it still shows that option), but if you try and use that account now it won't let you complete the transaction because there's no Zonos key attached to it.

Update:

Yes, you can use Shippo with Zonos to send to USA.  The rate will be the same as using SnapShip and your sfsb discount.

I was receiving an error when I tried back in November just to find out if I could do it.  Their support had been giving me e-mail updates every couple weeks that their engineering team was still looking into the error I was receiving.  Yesterday they sent me an update saying it had been fixed.  I gave it try and was able to use Shippo to order a label through my Canada Post account, with a linked Zonos account key.

You basically add your own carrier account for Canada Post to Shippo as the instructions state.  DDP is not supported on Shippo's carrier account, so the lower Shippo rates are not available for DDP.  When you 'buy' a label it is purchased through Canada Post account, charges to CC come from Canada Post instead.  Labels show up as outgoing orders on your Canada Post account.  There is an option to 'bill account', I'm not sure if that does billing through Shippo instead.  Shippo created it's own tiny 7 cent invoice for each label, so I guess I'll be charged by 3 services in the end.  Zonos charges would come later from Zonos directly, in the same way automatic billing with SnapShip/NetParcel works.

You have to update the incoterm to DDP, and in my case update the customs form, as the origin was not properly carried over from ebay and I missed this on my first attempt.  There is no duties estimate given to warn you that you might have the wrong COO or HT number entered.

Unless something goes wrong in transit, I was able to send to USA using Shippo and Zonos (via Tracked Packet USA).

Thanks for the update!

Are there any benefits (to you, or just generally) of doing this through Shippo vs just doing it directly through SnapShip?

Re: canada to USA by Shippo!

I suppose as intimewithmusic  mentioned, if you wanted some extra insurance beyond the carrier provided amount provided by XCover if it even qualifies (xcover terms) that might be a benefit.

I'll be sticking with NetParcel for US labels still.  It imports orders too, but has a better discount, and accepts debit credit card payments.
