Created 3 unused UPS labels - Can't void, can't get refund

Has anyone ever been in this situation before?

On December 3rd, after a long time of not selling on eBay, I sold an item to someone in the U.S. When I created the first label, I realized it had the wrong return address.

I then tried to void this label on the website, and I got a message saying that "this label can't be voided, because you won't be charged until confirmed delivery".

So I made another label, this time with my new address selected on my eBay account. It still had the same old return address.

The third label I made, I completely removed the old address from my account. The problem still persisted.

Anyway, after all of this, I was charged for these unused labels. For some reason, even though no acceptance scan was ever made, the status of the labels are "on the way" and there is "outstanding import fees".

I have contacted eBay many times, probably speaking to 6 or 7 separate "agents" over the last 2 weeks. No help or updates on my situation whatsoever.

I have finally tried emailing UPS Canada to see if they can help me. I'm waiting on their response.

The total cost for the unused labels is just over $200 Cad so it's really frustrating.

Any help is appreciated.

As far as I know, Canada Post do charge for unscanned labels, but not UPS. Did you try contact eBay reps through social media (FB/X) ?

Please keep us updated of your situation.

What date were they charged on?

Are there transactions for the charges, or are you only seeing them on 'Track and manage your shipments' page?

They will remain on the labels page where it shows the estimated cost, but you shouldn't get an actual charge until they are used.

Since the Canada Post changeover at the start of July 2025, labels supposedly are charged at time of first scan.  Before that the cost was charged at time of label purchase.

Someone else had claimed getting 'charged' for unused Canada Post label few weeks ago but that could have been from before the changes:

Did you create a 4th label for UPS and it was delivered or does it also have the same status waiting for import fees to be paid?

If it has the same status as the unused labels:  Are you checking the status on UPS through the links on ebay tracking, or entering the tracking numbers on UPS directly? On the Labels page clicking an unused tracking number displays tracking details for a different tracking number (the used label) and ebay links to that label's UPS tracking page instead.  As a result, if you check shipment status by clicking the tracking links on eBay rather than copying and pasting the tracking numbers directly into the UPS website you will see the same tracking information for all three unused labels.  If the actual used label is waiting for fees, this could explain why you see the same status on unused labels too.
