Right now a little word from eBay - just a 'hey we're working on this we've got your back' would go a VERY long way. You'd think they would say something, as this is certainly going to hurt their bottom line.
But...maybe they are just taking the approach of waiting and seeing how things are shaping up. closer to 8/29.
I think we all know by now that these situations are very volatile, and it can change on a dime, as it's customary with the Orange guy, down south.
For anyone interested page of de minimus limits by country.
Disclaimer page is dated 2025 with no month. (When page was created USA de minimus was 800 USD.

See countries with special rules at end of page.
Wonder how all this de minimus stuff is messing up so called duty free shops? Re: Duty Free exemptions. There was a news story recently stating the border duty free shops were all hurting for business. Laying off staff. How this is all confuddled in this new future is anyone's guess!! Next time someone flies to USA they should try bringing back a few sheets of steel or some copper pipe then get back to us. Please and thank you!!! You might even get a smile from your customs officer.
@silverpinups Thought I would try to lighten up the chat!!! Heyyyy, I tried!!!!

Shipping low value items to the US through the post office won't the biggest problem, using UPS and FedEx will though because of their insane brokerage fees which will be added on top of the duties and tariffs. This is going to hurt Americans as well as prices for everything is just going to keep going up and up. I can't see it implemented in one month with millions of parcels entering the US each day. They just don't have the staff to check and tariff each one of them.

I don't think this will stay in effect for too long. Ebay is slow in making changes but they will realize they are losing money on this. They are going to remove that exception there, why would ebay take that risk and responsibility.
Also how does it work in practical life? The buyer will just file the item not received claim.
Have you actually experienced a return like this? Returns take long time given that now things will go through the border twice, maybe Canadian tariffs on US goods will cause the time to double, it will get stuck.
If the item happens to be US made, brace for the complications with paperwork or the prospect of getting slapped the tariffs on re-entry of the item. If sent through Canada Post perhaps will not be an issue, but sending through Canada Post is another gable.
If we thought a few months ago the worst is over, I think the worst is yet to come.

Same was the recommendation on a US travel forum, recommended to US travellers to wear a Canada hat. There will be plenty of Canada hats out there.

Be careful or you may be put in jail for this in you travel to the US or if Canada becomes 51st state.

Thanks for this so looks like there is a delay for postal shipments. Hope until then the US Federal court will turn around Trump decission on Canada.

They could, if Ebay starts collecting the tariffs and that would make business possible and without frustration. I have been advocating this for long time but every time I get shut down by zealots of the Canada-US trade culture that has lasted for 3 decades saying Ebay should leave hands of tariffs. Why? Makes no sense. The oposite is no sales and no business. Large platforms have the budget to implement software in place that handle tariff payment charging and processing. At some point of time there needs to be a system similar as Europe has done for VAT. Ironically Trump complained about VAT but the fact Ebay lets EU buyers pay the VAT upfront for items valued at 150 EUR makes selling most of stuff still possible without headachaes.

You may be better off now to move to Germany or the other countries you mentioned, or somewhere cheaper like Spain or Portugal and send the stuff from there since the tariffs on EU now are 15%.

In the meantime the DPP shipping program would be the most viable solution because US has no system in place that would like EU have an IOSS code for sharing the information about the duties paid, if it did, Ebay could charge the duty from the US buyer and you would pass the IOSS code to the carrier, be it Canada Post in Canada or USPS in the US.
In fact this would make me drop Stallion and Chitchats for non-US items in a heartbeat because shipping DDP is major headaches, even if buyers want to pay tariffs, I had to create a separate listing for the tariffs add the ebay fees and buyer had to purchase that and then I ship. There is risk the buyer is going to change mind and then I am on the hook for all the money including the tariffs paid to US government which apparently you can't get back once paid, it's a black hole.

I hope that when Canada post restructures after the labor dispute (and it will have to), that they will finally offer reasonable tracked shipping rates overseas for parcels. Sending a 1kg parcel can cost over $60 which is crazy, considering China can send us packages for a couple of bucks.

I would LOVE to shore up more international shipping, particularly the EU. Already working on shoring up more Canadian customers.
Ths USA is a tornado of chaos and stepping on small business and people for the enrichment of the top earners for at least 4 years.

Meh, things will change a hundred times between now and August 29th. Let's see what happens.

I have a question though. Having read and re read the Executive Order,President Trump refers to AN EXEMPTION FOR CANADA in that Canadian goods covered under CUSMA Free Trade Agreement wil pass through the USA with 0 percent duty. A majority of goods ie.,clothing etc falls under the CUSMA. So if I undrstand correctly if on CHIT CHATS they offer sellers to pay duty, when we do our shipping labels and all that and the country of origina of the goods is Canada or the USA or Mexico then we should see 0.00 tariffs value correct?
Again interepreting the legislation, although deminimis will be eliminated August 29,2025,CUSMA would over ride this and offer tariff free exemptions for most Candian goods entering the USA. Am I correct here?

Maybe if you're the exporter you could get around it by filing the proper paperwork. But with eBay I doubt this will apply unless they start collecting duties or tariffs.

A lot of Canadian sellers including myself would appreciate some "Canada specific" eBay support. Since the departure of Tyler and his weekly regular communication with sellers the regular communication stopped. eBay could easily reinstate a "Tyler" and weekly sessions so we felt heard. I think it would make a difference. Until then it's important to hear each other.

I agree about the doom & g. That being said 4th quarter is just around the corner. Rather than maintain the status quo folks may want to implement counter measures soon. When I was in brick & mortar all of the Christmas inventory was purchased in July. For example;
*If your strategy is to persue domestic sales some sellers may want to add "Free Shipping" and set that up while it's slow using Business Policies. If trade turns out to be normal it's easy to just switch off free shipping.
* If a seller 's counter measure is to increase EU sales the added overseas shipping time means Christmas is much closer if you account for gift purchase in September.
* Sellers who rely on a computer to list and will be switching up to Windows 11 might want to address that before 4th quarter. Depending on the expertise and the equipment it can take time to get through Windows 11 learning curves and new equipment/old equipment compatabilties and it's integration with cloud storage if applicable.
I agree with you but not 100%. You make a good point. The sky isn't falling. The part I have trouble with is "adjust your listings and selling strategy after the deadline " which is the end of August.
It might be best for some sellers to get their potentially reversible ducks in a row before August 29 considering the gift season begins then and more so for over seas gift giving.

For myself as an occasional/infrequent seller, despite that my sales have been about 60%USA/40%Canadian, for the sake of my sanity and to avoid the hassles involved, eliminating USA as a ships to location, whilst continuing to provide great prices on my items for potential Canadian buyers, may become my solution for the interim...

My understanding is that digital marketplaces don’t have the legal authority to assess, charge, and collect tariffs and duties because that responsibility is part of the customs inspection process.
Instances where you've seen line-items for duty at Checkout for a purchase from the US are when the duty and tax collection are handled by the carrier contracted by eBay International Shipping.
Taxes on international purchases are a completely different ball of wax in most countries.
